We’ve tried quite a few hair tools here on Rave & Review in the past 18+ years. Some of those tools we still use every week, and some were admittedly fads that faded in luster. Eventually those fad products were relegated to the back of the cabinet or donated because their usage was so incredibly specific that they just didn’t make the cut for daily use. But, all of this trial and error taught me what to look for in a versatile product that will earn its space in your vanity, and that led me to Mint Pro Tools.
Mint X-Long Curling Iron Brush
The first product I fell in love with is the Mint Pro Tools line was the X-Long Curling Iron Brush, which is a versatile hair styling tool for effortless blow outs and quick and easy waves. The extra-long 1.33” ceramic barrel has 2X the ceramic heating elements to ensure that the perfect temperature is maintained throughout the entire iron.

It has adjustable temperature settings between 230 – 430 °F {110 – 220°C} so you can choose your temperature depending on your hair type, length, and style. It uses ionic + ceramic + tourmaline heat for healthy, shiny and smooth finishes and all-day styles.

The infrared technology of the Mint X-Long Curling Brush penetrates deep into the hair shaft to quickly heat the hair from the inside out, preserving the integrity of the outer cuticle. Super charged negative ions allow moisture to be absorbed back into the hair, leaving it feeling shiny, healthy and static-free.
I have shorter shoulder-length hair and my main concern was that my hair wouldn’t hold on the curling iron brush. My daughter has really long hair and my concern for her was that it would leave her hair a tangled mess as it wouldn’t be able to handle the length of her hair. But, both of those fears turned out to be unfounded and I found that the Mint X-Long Curling Iron Brush bristles are actually remarkably grippy but they don’t tangle the hair. Mint Pro Tools really did think of everything.

I’d never used a curling iron brush before and was worried it would be really difficult to get my hair to stay on the brush without the traditional curling iron clip, but I found within the first few curls that it was much easier than I thought to curl my shorter hair. The dual combs provide optimal tension without slippage, so I found it pretty easy to wrap my hair around the barrel and get it to stay long enough to curl. I did give myself a slight burn once, and from then on made sure to use a heat glove. After the first use I pretty much had the curling process down, although I do struggle a bit with the back of my head.

My teenage daughter, on the other hand, had no learning curve whatsoever. She grabbed the Mint X-Long Curling Iron Brush and used it effortlessly the very first time. Her long hair was easily managed on the X-Long wand of the brush, which I was surprised about because of how thick and long her hair is. She had virtually no tangles thanks to the anti-tangle bristles of the Curling Iron Brush, which we were both surprised by. But, the most surprising thing was that it actually left her hair shinier and without flyaway and frizz damage.

The extra-long barrel is recommended for short to medium hair, but it can be used on longer hair as well. For short hair, you can create volume, curls and waves in seconds, and for longer hair you can easily create medium curls. The dual ceramic heater barrel gives even heat distribution and has a rapid heat function as well as a 60-minute auto shut off. Mizu 水 Brush from Mint Pro Tools
If you’re already familiar with Mint Pro Tools and know all about their Kaze brush, then you will love the new Mizu brush from Mint Pro Tools. The Mizu is like a compact sibling to the Kaze – perfect for every type of hair but in a more compact footprint. The Mizu is designed with the same high-quality bristle pattern and has premium boar bristles. These provide ideal tension, evenly distributing the scalp’s natural oils from root to tip for naturally conditioned hair. Mint Pro Tools suggests you brush in a circular motion for scalp health to exfoliate, unclog follicles, boost circulation, and promote healthy hair growth.

The brush has an anti-slip, rubberized finish that feels good in your palm as well as making it easier to hold and manage, even with wet hands. In fact, Mint Pro Tools says it is waterproof and even recommends it for brushing through conditioner in the shower, or even for use in brushing color or toner in your hair. I don’t think I’m brave enough for either of these, but I do love that it’s versatile enough to handle it if I ever get up the courage, and I love that it is suitable for wet or dry hair.

The Mizu brush isn’t small by any means, but it’s more portable than other premium brushes from Mint Pro Tools, and I do like even a bit more compact size. But, don’t be fooled by the smaller size, the Mizu is still the perfect blend of luxury, functionality, and portability.
