XNITO eVehicle Helmet

I don’t love the idea of kids and young adults cruising around on electric bikes and scooters at all. There are just so many ways a person could get seriously hurt. But the thing is, you have to eventually let your children make their own decisions, even if it just about kills you as a parent. So, when my son saved up his money from working this summer and bought an e-scooter to ride around with his best friends, I had a big decision to make. When I was gently reminded that he could actually legally take drivers ed right now, I felt like there was no choice but to give in. Of course, there were so many rules that he had to agree to and rules of the road he had to learn in order to ever cruise away from my sight, but even then, I was terrified.

As if they heard my internal anguish, I got an email from XNITO, the makers of the amazing XNITO eVehicle helmet that is NTA 8776 certified. The NTA 8776 certification is a Dutch standard that regulates design and safety of helmets for eBikes and eScooters that go up to 28 mph. The US still relies on a standard from the CPSC that was created back in the 70s, which only regulates safety for speeds up to 15 mph. Since eVehicles can go up to 25 mph, this leaves a big lapse in safety that most people are completely unaware of.

XNITO understands that safety is paramount when you’re talking about sending your kids off in open-air, small wheeled eVehicles that travel at car speeds and lack basic crash protection. There is just too much that can go wrong when kids and young adults are traveling that fast, and even more so when they are also moving in the same general space as full-sized vehicles. When the XNITO eVehicle helmet arrived, I felt like I could breathe a little easier when my son was out with his friends.

The XNITO helmet is a classic-looking helmet that is surprisingly good looking and yet still comfortable. It is fully ventilated with an aerodynamic design that has 10 strategically placed vents to provide maximum airflow. Grooved channels allow air to move inside the helmet, so you don’t arrive at your destination with terrible, sweaty hat hair. Each helmet comes with a removable fabric visor to help keep the sun out of your eyes and to add to the vintage appeal.

The XNITO eVehicle helmet provides enhanced protection specifically at the temple region, addressing the area where the skull bone is thinner and vital blood vessels are more susceptible to injury. It also has extended coverage at the back of the head, ensuring superior protection for the neck and brainstem, making it a top choice for those prioritizing comprehensive head safety.

Three different helmet sizes and a unique dial-fit system gives you the perfect fit, and the magnetic clasp is incredibly comfortable as well as being pinch-free. You can easily tighten or loosen the wheel in the back of your helmet to adjust for every ride. The helmet is also lightweight and so easy to tote around when you’re off-bike/scooter.

In addition to all the safety features built into the helmet, XNITO also added an integrated front and rear light on the helmet for increased visibility. The rear light has three different light modes and the front light is bright enough to help you illuminate your path. I love the fact that it has both lights, but the front one is especially nice as it helps you to see around you as you turn your head, whereas the attached scooter/bike light can only illuminate in front of it. I also appreciate that neither light can be blocked like traditional bike or scooter lights can.

The XNITO is equipped with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 10 hours, which ends up being a really long time for my son because he doesn’t ride at night very often. I will say that having an amazing helmet to keep him as safe as possible doesn’t completely alleviate all of my worries, but I can tell you that it 100% helps me not freak out when he’s out for a bit with friends. I still periodically track him and keep an eye on him, but it’s so much better than the terror I felt sending him off the first few times before the XNITO arrived.

You can find XNITO on their website as well as on Amazon. Another bonus is that a tree is planted for every purchase. Be sure to follow them on Instagram and Facebook to hear about all their product launches and restocks.
