Enchant Christmas – all the holiday magic in one place

A big thank you to Enchant Seattle for having us out for the media preview. We had a blast and we can’t stop talking about it days later. 

Earlier this week, we saw Santa… on the moon. YES, ON THE MOON, folks.

This space travel was possible thanks to Enchant Christmas, an eclectic and amazing collection of all things related to holiday cheer. We got to attend the media night event for Enchant Seattle, and it was so much better than I had even hoped it would be.

First, I didn’t understand that Enchant was more than just a light maze. Since that’s what friends’ posted pictures of last year, I guess I had just assumed that’s all Enchant was. Furthermore, I was picturing a packed maze that felt claustrophobic and a little bit like standing in line since I knew that there were dozens of photo ops people would be stopping for. And, while that didn’t appeal to me in the least, I knew the kids would have a blast so I agreed to check it out.

It turns our that the grounds of Enchant Christmas is over 300,000 square feet of holiday magic and it has a little bit of everything Christmas-y. The maze is just part of the fun, and, it was a whole lot more fun than I had expected it would be. 

Here’s a little taste of what Enchant Christmas in Seattle has in store for you:

• Christmas Light Maze Adventure “Mischievous” – The loveable yet mischievous elf Eddie is back and accidentally misplaced Santa’s gifts. It will take all of Seattle to help find them inside the World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze and Market. Enter a living storybook of larger-than-life light sculptures, a stunning ice skating trail, and decadent delights as snow gently falls all around you.

• Christmas Market Experience – Whether they’re naughty or nice, you’ll find something for anyone on your list with over 70 local artisans and international favorites in the Christmas Market. Curated in collaboration with Seattle’s Urban Craft Uprising and Seattle Made, which I love so I can support local artisans. Plus, vendors cycle through each week, so it will be different each time you visit.

• Dining – Also in the Christmas Market is the dining area where you can feast on specially selected seasonal foods and drinks and indulge in holiday treats. From shareable appetizers to entrees for one, you can come hungry or snack throughout the night on savory or sweets. Be sure to save room for tailor-made treats created just for Enchant. Just say, ‘Yes!’ if someone asks, ‘May we Enchant that for you?’

• Ice Skating Trail – Enchant’s beloved and light-adorned ice skating trail returns with a larger footprint and new route. Bring your own skates or rent a pair at the event for $10 and take a glide with your loved ones – ice skating is included with the price of admission.

• Santa’s Landing – Visiting Santa at Enchant is truly an out-of-this-world experience and not your typical mall Santa. Santa eagerly awaits to hear all the children’s Christmas wishes from the surface of the moon, surrounded by a magical scene of mountains and lakes. Honestly, I wasn’t planning on Santa that night as we were wearing warmer “comfort” clothes for the night’s activities and the kids definitely weren’t in their Santa’s Best. But, once I saw the scenery and we met Santa, I couldn’t help but stop in for a picture. 

• Kid Zone – Bring the kids to the Kid Zone where they can play with toys, participate in activities, engage with other children, color, and more. Appropriate for even the youngest guests, including those under four years of age.

• The Makery – Not sure what to gift the person who has it all? Make something! Seattle’s very own local business, The Makery pops up nightly for engaging craft workshops where guests can get creative and make ornaments, home decor, and more.

• Enchant Cinema – Pick up a snack from the Christmas Market, escape the holiday bustle, and cozy up with blankets and a movie. The Enchant Cinema will showcase excerpts from the season’s most classic films – like Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and A Charlie Brown Christmas – and contemporary favorites like – Elf and The Polar Express.

• Live Entertainment – Bask in the lovely sounds of the season with nightly on-stage live performances, maze roaming carolers, and local busking-style musicians throughout the venue.

Visiting Enchant Seattle – things to know before you go

Are you ready to plan your visit to Enchant Seattle? Here’s some things to know before you go.

• The Enchant maze isn’t stroller-friendly, but they do offer a stroller valet so you can ditch your stroller and gear to explore the maze with young kids. Of course, the maze is ADA compliant and wheelchairs are allowed.
• There is a bag policy at Enchant. No backpacks or bags larger than 16” x 16” x 8”.
• Outside food and drinks are not allowed in {with the exception of baby food and milk in a clear container}. They do allow reusable water bottles to enter, and there are water fountains in T-Mobile park for fill-ups. 
• Everything is indoors, but it is chilly because of the ice and large open spaces. We all brought big huge jackets and would put them on when cold, but we ended up carrying them a lot, too, especially in the level above the ice.
• Leave time for the maze. It takes approximately 45 minutes {give or take, there is no time limit for exiting the maze so you can stay as long as you like} to finish the maze and complete the scavenger hunt. We stayed in over an hour because we were having fun and enjoying all the photo ops, but you can also return to the maze as many times as you would like. 
• No selfie sticks or large cameras are allowed in Enchant. I would have loved my big camera for amazing light shots, but the cellphone pics actually turned okay and in hindsight I wouldn’t have wanted to lug around the big camera all night.
