I love Fremont, WA and I don’t think I will ever get tired of walking around the area. This is especially true on Sundays. Yes, Sundays… the day it seems like everything is closed even though everyone has the day off. But, Fremont shines on Sundays. Oh, and did I mention that it’s purely magical in fall?
Fremont, WA in fall
While summer in Fremont is magical in so many ways, fall in Fremont, WA has its own special allure. Yes, it is a bit chilly, especially at night {hence the big puffy coats}, but it’s still so gorgeous and the colors are amazing along the Burke-Gillman trail.
We love walking along the river and watching the boats go by, seeing the draw bridge go up and down, and picking wildflowers – basically just wasting time and relaxing by the river.
This past Sunday I decided to do a mini photo shoot while we sat by the river, just after the Fremont Sunday Market closed for the week. The kids were absolutely enthralled with the river and watching the bridge go up and down, so we sat there for over an hour just letting them play. If you’ve never been to the area, you will definitely want one of these walking maps that you can pick up right off the Burke-Gilman trail {right by the Dino hedges}. This will help make sure you don’t miss anything as you explore everything from the troll to the shore. And, yes, there really is a troll and it really is awesome.
Fremont Sunday Market

Of course, the biggest draw to Fremont for me is the Fremont Sunday Market. The European-style street market is hopping year-round, which is great because I can’t just have farmer’s markets 1/4 of the year. This year the market is celebrating their 28th anniversary helping treasure hunters and vendors connect to support small businesses, and it really does get better year after year.
At the market, you will find all sorts of handmade goodies, artisan crafts, fruits, veggies, artists, and resalvage/vintage booths.
The market is also a great place to buy veggie starts to get your own garden started, or you can buy fresh fruits and veggies locally as they come into season.
Fremont flea market
In the covered area of the market, you will find what resembles a flea market where you can get local arts and crafts as well as vintage items. It was 8 years ago that we were visiting the market and my son fell in love with a toy truck. That was the beginning of what we know will be a life-long obsession with cars.
I will never forget his face when we purchased that first truck for him, and then how he carried it around for weeks – sleeping with it, eating with it, and gripping it for dear life if anyone tried to take it from him.My son still looks forward to going to the market every chance he gets because they always have a good selection of random finds that my son considers treasures, and you can still find him digging through the car bins looking for rare finds. Unsurprisingly, he always finds at least a few he *needs* to come home with him.
You can connect with Fremont Sunday Market on Facebook, or you can visit the official Fremont Sunday Market site.
Matching Girls Monday
My matching girls are wearing dresses and leggings from Gymboree that are *almost* getting too small for them. I love these dresses and leggings so much that it’s going to be a very sad day when they outgrow them. I’m hoping I still have a few more months until they are retired. Fingers crossed. Want to know how I found all the matching clothing for my girls? It’s gotten easier through the years now that my girls are both in little girl sizes instead of straddling baby and toddler, too.
But, for those mamas with multiple aged kids searching for matching clothes, you will want to check out The Complete Guide to Matching Clothing for Baby, Kids, and Siblings.
Looks lovely! I’ve never been there.
It’s beautiful in any season, I definitely recommend putting it on your visit list!
