I love a good curly hairstyle every once in a while, especially this time of year with holiday parties and birthdays galore, but I swear that every year I get worse and worse at styling a good curly ‘do. I’m fine for the first few curls and then out of nowhere I clip the iron and accidentally turn it the wrong way. Anyone who has ever done this knows that you then end up with that awful crimped piece at the bottom where the clip was holding that no amount of recurling can ever fix. That, my friends, is pretty much my signature “curly” look.
Or, at least it was. I was recently introduced to the KISS InstaWave and it’s changed the way I style hair forever. Not only is it clipless so there’s no chance of ending up with crimped hair, it’s also automatic so all I need to do is rest the hair on the barrel and press a button. There’s literally no way to mess up your hair!
With the touch of a button, the moving prongs at the bottom of the InstaWave catch your hair strand and wrap it effortlessly around the barrel where it curls your locks in just seconds. With two heat settings and Diamond-Ceramic ionic technology, it’s easy to create healthy, shiny curls and waves with less frizz and damage. Before I tried the InstaWave, I was a little worried that it might end up pulling my hair or worse. I’ve tried other so-called automatic curlers and was far from impressed, so I was preparing myself for another failure but hoping for the best.
After using it a few times, I was thrilled to find that the InstaWave is so sensitive that it stops spinning immediately if it hits even the slightest knot in your hair. No pulling, no getting your hair stuck around a hot iron, and no messy, frizzy curls when you are finished. Perfection!
I should mention that my hair is barely shoulder length and I thought it was very easy to do a loose curl even though the InstaWave’s recommended length is a bit longer. My daughter’s hair is longer than mine and more in the suggested range and it was also super easy to do in ringlets or waves. Overall, I thought mastering the technique was fairly easy, even for my hair iron-challenged self. The instructions given weren’t super detailed, so I recommend watching the KISS InstaWave video demonstration on YouTube before using and you should be fine. It takes a bit to get the hang of making beautiful curls automatically, but once you get it, it goes really quick. And, even if you never fully master it and end up curling the wrong way more often than you curl it correctly, you will never have to worry about the dreaded curling iron crimp again.
I’m not one to rave about doing hair as to me it’s a necessary evil lest I shave my head completely, but this curling iron is so much fun. It takes mere seconds to create gorgeous tight or loose curls and I personally think it’s really cool watching the InstaWave wrap your hair for you. But, even better than that is the gorgeous curls it creates and how it holds its style for hours. Features of the KISS InstaWave:
• Patent Pending Curl Dial: Creates Tangle-Free curls in both Left or Right directions
• Diamond-Ceramic Ionic Technology that gives results with less frizz and damage
• 420˚F Max Temperature: Professional grade temperature locks in curls
• Auto Shutoff: Automatically shuts off after 90 minutes
• Power Control Switch: High/Low Temperature Settings
