Whole house clean with the Shark Sonic Duo Cleaning System

by Leanne

If you know me, you know how much I adore cleaning gadgets. Even a good scrub brush makes me happy, but if the product actually saves me time and energy, I’m ecstatic. Such is the case with the Shark Duo Carpet and Hard Floor Cleaner that I was sent after meeting the Shark team at the MomTrends Shark party during BlogHer.

Isn't this gorgeous? The view isn't half bad, either.

As soon as the box bearing my brand new Shark Sonic Duo was delivered, I couldn’t wait to start cleaning. Unfortunately, we had a busy day planned {which included running around IN the Shark Sonic Duo box} and I wasn't able to fully enjoy my new toy.

So, as soon as the kids were in bed and I was able to sweep the floors, I powered it up under the guise of “just seeing how it works” and I told my husband I was not going to clean our floors at midnight like a crazy woman.Shark Sonic Duo in box

But, that’s exactly what I did. And, let me tell you, using the Shark Sonic Duo is more fun than you could possibly imagine, even in the middle of the night.

What's in the box Shark Sonic DuoOne flick of a switch and the whole unit came to life, moving in a way that I’ve never seen before. Instead of a traditional stream mop or circular polisher, the Shark Sonic Duo has a unique alternating scrubbing motion they call Dual Scrubbing Action. Since the bottom of the unit has two surfaces that move separately, this involves two floor pads connected by elastic that move with the machine and allow you to glide over just about any surface.

With its 180° swiveling base, it makes it easy to get in even tight areas or under furniture effectively, so it's able to scrub underneath my table, around the corners of my island, and around furniture I don't feel like moving every time I clean. The long handle is perfect for hubby and I who are both tall, but still comfortable for my much-shorter sisters to use when they come over and they want to try it out, too.

But, not only is the Shark Sonic Duo fun to use, it’s also incredibly effective as well. The Sonic Cleaning Technology scrubs 1,000 times per minute {or 16 scrubs per second}, which is a whole lot faster than I can scrub on my own. The two alternating pads really get the hard to remove food messes, stuck on dirt, or the dreaded sticky spots better than anything else I have ever tried, and leaves my floors streak-free and spotless.

This is coming from a self-proclaimed floor cleaning gadget "expert" as my years of home ownership have led me to try just about every kind of mop, steamer, or electronic floor cleaner that has hit the market in the past 10 years. While some gadgets are better than others, they never satisfied my desire for a truly clean floor. Even with my stash of sweepers, mops, brooms, and cleaners, I still cleaned the old fashioned way whenever I wanted a truly clean house – a good scrubbing while crawling around on my hands and knees.

I’m very happy to ditch my mopping bucket and rag for good with just a few uses of the Shark Sonic Duo. But, it’s not just the mop that has been given the boot – the Shark Sonic Duo is also for use on area rugs, carpeting, and more, which makes it a perfect whole house cleaner. The Shark Sonic Duo is perfect for my first floor that is mostly hardwoods, works great on my upstairs bathrooms linoleum, and even can be used on our carpeted areas.

I bet you’re wondering how a cleaning machine can go from hard surfaces to carpet, and the trick is with the cleaning pads. Simply change the washable cleaning pads to the carpet pads and switch to the carpet and area rug low moisture/no rinse carpet cleaner and you’re ready to deep clean. We all know vacuuming doesn’t do anything for ground-in dirt and stains, so I love that the Sonic Duo cleaning system can take the deep clean I love for my hardwoods and make my carpets look like new.

Scrubbing Pads Shark Sonic DuoWhen I’m done cleaning, all I need to do is remove the cleaning pad by stepping on the little foot tab {which is a brilliant design that makes it so you don’t have to turn the unit upside down to remove the dirty pad or to touch it with your hands}, then throw the pad in the wash for next time, and place the unit on the drip tray that keeps the floor clean and dry.

If you hate hand-scrubbing your floors, dragging around buckets and mops, hiring
Ptpa-RGB-300dpi-navbarprofessionals to deep clean, or using useless disposable pad mops that don't get the deep-down dirt, you should definitely check out the Shark Sonic Duo to see what you've been missing. There's a good reason PTPA testers gave it their seal of approval and rated it one of the best cleaning products around!

Can I just say:
1.) I’m so sad I had to give mine up to Sarah!
2.) I love that the cleaning pads are machine washable – so much better for the environment.
3.) Where is the picture of you mopping in your heels and diamonds?

I think products like these are so much better than a traditional mop, which just swirls around dirty water.

How cool! I don’t have much “hard” floors aside from linoleum in the kitchen, entry way, bathrooms and laundry room, but this would def come in handy for all the carpet and those little linoleum areas – it seems so compact! Love it!

I’m so jealous of the awesomeness of this machine! Our shark mop broke 🙁 So we’re waiting for the day after Thanksgiving and hoping that this one goes on sale so we can purchase it!

This is the best ever. I only wish the cord retracted and it did the grout better.
