Vacu Vin Barbecue Cooler and Cool Plate {Review}

With Thanksgiving a mere days away, I know many of you are putting the finishing touches on your menu and getting all ready to celebrate the holidays the way it was intended – by hanging out with friends and family eating too much turkey and fixings.

With prep in full swing at our house, I’d like to introduce you to our new best friend, the Vacu Vin Barbeque Cooler / Cool Plate

BBQ Cool Plate
When I first read about the Vacu Vin I knew I needed it, not just for the holidays but for year-round food prep, storage, transportation, and even for display.  Perfect for keeping foods cold to and from grandma’s house or on the buffet table at the party, the Vacu Vin Cool Plate is my new favorite kitchen must-have.

The Vacu Vin Barbecue and Cool Plate is as versatile as the name implies, going from backyard grilling to storing and serving with ease.  Designed not only to keep foods cool, but to keep them covered, fresh, and ready to serve, it will undoubtedly be used year-round, both indoors and out.

The design is rather simple, but it’s the little things that make it so amazingly perfect.  Designed with a hinged and removable protective cover that allows you to see the food inside as well as remain open for buffet lines or mealtimes, it’s so much more than a typical “cool plate” that can’t be used outdoors or for storing.  Add in the removable cooling element that can be folded, rolled, or laid flat in any freezer, and the fact that it is dishwasher safe and you can see why I’m raving about it.

Vacu Vin Cool Plate
I know I’m not the only person who starts a mental stopwatch the moment a perishable item is set out at room temperature.  This is mostly because I know my sister is equally crazy and does the same thing, which is why she will only eat at a party during the first hour before the food has been sitting for too long.  But, even if you’re not crazy like us, chances are you do get a little concerned about the dairy and meat items as the party rages on, and for a very good reason.

With the Vacu Vin Cool Plate, the food is kept chilled by the removable cooling element in the base, which is simply frozen ahead of time so it’s ready at a moment’s notice.  Then, when the Vacu Vin Cool Plate lid is closed, it has a refrigeration effect that keeps everything at a safe temperature even if the party goes on into the night.

What’s
really cool about the Cool Plate is that it can help you get your dish
to the party safely but then also makes a great display and serving tray
once you’ve arrived at your destination.  We've used it for baked
goods, sushi, BBQ, salads, cheese serving trays, and more and love it
even more every time we think of an awesome new use for the versatile
Vacu Vin Barbeque Cooler and Cool Plate.

Since we do lots of sushi-making parties, my favorite use for the Vacu Vin is to keep the sushi we make fresh throughout the night while we get creative.  Whereas before we had to stop what we were doing and put away the sushi as we went, now we can leave it out so it will be eaten as it's made instead.  Because this delicious-ness is too beautiful for the fridge:

If you have BBQs, picnics, parties or potlucks in your future, I would highly recommend picking up a Vacu Vin Barbeque Cooler / Cool Plate {or two} for all the upcoming holiday get togethers.  Preparing, serving, and protecting your food has never been easier, and you will find yourself wondering how you ever did without it!

You can find Vacu Vin products at many local retailers as well as online, such as Amazon.

  1. Hi, Thanks for the review. You noted that it kept things cool throughout the night…. what’t the time frame, 6 hours? Was there a point when the items were not as cool as you first had placed them on the plate?
