Who out there isn’t familiar with Lee Jeans? Since 1889 they have been creating denim for both working in and playing in, and to this day they are still one of the first brands people think of when they think jeans. From my early childhood in the 80s to the resurgence of Buddy Lee {above} in my teens, Lee has been synonymous with jeans.
Ironically, though, I have never owned a pair of Lee Jeans. Or, at least, I hadn’t owned a pair until 9 days ago.
Last week, I was thrilled to attend the Lee Find Your Fit Style Party co-hosted by the amazing Louise of MomStart and Connie of MiscFinds4U and see some of the fall 2012 Lee Jeans lineup. Not only was it awesome to connect with some of my favorite blogging friends in Seattle, the ladies from Lee who traveled all the way from Kansas to party were wonderful and incredibly fun to hang out with.
With a selection of jeans in various sizes, styles, and washes ready for trying on, two simultaneous fitting rooms, and an “orange carpet” set up to show off our options, you can bet it was a lot of fun. Clockwise from top left: some of the kids at the party entertaining us, Katy from Lee with the crazy kids, Bloggers and Friends {photo credit: MomStart}, and a self portrait with my friend Quincy.
Rachelle, Lee’s Trend Expert, was there to consult with each of us and see what we look for in a pair of jeans. She asked me what brands I normally wore, whether I preferred light or dark washes, denim weight, and problems I run into with other jeans I own. After our talk, she had two pairs of Lee Jeans hand selected for me for my fitting.
And, let me tell you, as a long-legged and curvy gal, I was super excited when I realized she had brought longs specifically for me and I wouldn't end up with highwaters or capris out of necessity. I can’t remember the last time I actually found my size on a retail shelf, so having two pairs available for trying on was a special treat all in itself. The first ones I tried on were super comfy and felt more like yoga pants than jeans, and I was tempted to just go with them without trying on the second pair. Luckily, I talked myself out of being lazy and tried on the second pair because they were even better than the first. While not as lounge-ready as the stretchy yoga-pant pair, they were still comfortable and felt good on.
My choice was easy; my new jeans were the Perfect Fit Mila Bootcut. As well as fitting perfectly and helping camouflage my problem areas, I love that they have the perfect amount of stretch; not too much to be falling off at the end of the day, but just enough to hug and play off my, uh, assets.
Beyond that, the fun fit details of the Mila jeans adds some flair to the back pockets, some contrast stitching around the pockets and seams, and a tasteful whiskering of the front of the jeans that I love.
After my second trip down the orange carpet, my blogging friends and new stylists confirmed my decision to go with the second pair. Of course, I was thrilled when they offered me the Mila Perfect Fit Jeans to take home with me, because I had big, big plans for them over the next week.
See that mesh insert on the Mila? That's a Shapetastic compression mesh panel and it's there for adding a bit of control and shaping. You know, if you're into being shapely and slender.
As much fun as it was to get a personal fit from experts, it was also really fun to see everyone else in their jeans and help them pick their perfect fit. With sizes at the party ranging from a 2 to a 24, short lengths to long lengths, and an age range of 16 to 51, it was great to get a diverse perspective and see what features flatter what figures.
A big thank you to Connie, Louise and the Lee gals for inviting me to the Find Your Fit Seattle party and for my awesome new jeans. I was not asked to write a review, I just wanted to share what a good time I had and how much I love my new jeans. As always, all opinions are 100% ours.
