Recently Barbie has become a very big deal at our house. Maybe this is because many of my old Barbie’s are making their way from Nana’s house or maybe it’s because the charm and ageless allure of Barbie is one that appeals to nearly every little girl. But, whatever the reason, I’m thrilled that Barbie won out over all the other fashion dolls on the market.
And really, what’s not to love about Barbie? She has a million accessories and accoutrements and they are, for the most part, bright pink. Well, now Barbie can add one more thing to her list as she has recently introduced a new line of clothing for young girls.
We got a first look at Mattel’s Barbie Apparel Collection in the mail the other day, packaged in a cute little cardboard Barbie closet. The package was a little girl’s dream, complete with an adorable kid’s Barbie digital camera that has awakened the inner photographer in my child and I now have a whole SD card full of pictures of trees, flowers, friends, and tiny little bugs she’s run across in the past week.
Like this gem of my daughter and her friend on the trampoline:
As thrilled as she is with her new camera, she was even more excited about the Barbie clothing than I would have ever imagined. With four mix and match tops and bottoms, we had fun creating 3 separate outfits out of the pieces together and even did a little fashion show that my daughter had a little too much fun with.
Yes, I know, the girl has moves. And, she clearly loves the clothes… and the heart… and that
they are BARBIE!
As much as my daughter was crazy about the pieces, I was worried how comfortable they would be with their added tulle and ruffle flair. Looking at them again, though, I realized that none of the added tulle, ruffles or bows actually touches the skin as it all has a soft cotton lining behind it. The skirt not only has a soft backing to it, it also has sewn in matching shorts that let my tomboy hang on monkey bars and do somersaults without worry.
And, I guess I shouldn’t have been worried at all about comfort because my daughter begged to wear one of the outfits to bed the first night. After talking her out of wearing glittery clothing to bed, she then compromised by asking if she could wear the other outfit the very next day.
The next day, she came down in the other outfit, really proud of herself for getting dressed all on her own. As happy as I was that she was excited enough to get ready on her own {which can sometimes be a struggle as she has one speed in the morning}, I was completely thrilled that for once she was in a matching outfit.
Once school starts up, I plan on doing one day a week in a Barbie outfit so she can get ready all on her own and get more independent in the mornings. Needless to say, we will definitely be getting more Barbie branded outfits for her collection, which makes me really grateful that they are really affordable at prices from $7.99 to $16.99.
If you have a little girl like mine who loves all things Barbie and all things fashion, you should definitely check out the new line available at Kmart! As you can see, we're all ready for school now that we have our Barbie clothes!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Barbie Clothing. I received a sample to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating. As always, all opinions are 100% ours.
First of all, it’s not right that she has way more moves than I do… not to mention a much cuter hairdo. Totally jealous.
Second of all, CUTE!!
I love all of the Barbie products. I also like mix match outfits, so the kids can help choose their own clothes.

Oh, yeah… those moves. She didn’t get them from me – haha!
I think that’s great that these Barbie outfits inspire her to be a big girl now and dress herself, oh and to model!
What great news. My niece is 5 and will love to have Barbie clothes. And my sister will live then for their reasonable price at Kmart.
I like that they are comfortable as well as cute.
