Capturing memories with the Sony Handycam

Everyone always says it, but I just don’t think you understand it until becoming a parent: time passes much too fast.  Even though my kids are still young, there’s been so many times my husband and I would turn to each other and say “do you remember how Bubs used to say _____?” or “what park was that where he took his first steps?”

I can only imagine this gets exponentially more difficult to remember the older they get and there are so many more milestones to keep track of.  While I’ve tried to keep up with their baby books and journals, I oftentimes wish we had caught that adorable expression or pronunciation on video so we could watch it over and over and relive all those moments that pass too quick.

While I can’t do anything about the moments we’ve missed up until now, I’m so happy that over the past few months with the PTPA winning Sony Handycam we’ve caught a number of those PTPA new badgepriceless moments on video forever.  I must admit that I’ve been known to get water-y eyed just watching our Handycam videos, even if it was only taken the day before and the kiddos are right here with me, but I imagine these videos are going to be even more valuable the older and older they get.

Yes, that’s going to be me sobbing watching my kiddos videos in 20+ years, reminiscing about the good old days of having a full, messy house filled with love.  Just thinking about it now brings tears to my eyes, so there’s basically no hope for me not being a blubbery mess when that day comes.  But, I will be forever grateful that I have these videos to remember these times and all the little things that you can’t document with still photos or journals.

We’ve taken the Sony Handycam with us on vacation, for days at the park, and we’ve made a point to take it out even when we’re just at home or in the neighborhood, and I’m so glad that we did.  In the past few months we’ve amassed a small hard drive worth of videos of the kids in extraordinary circumstances as well as during their everyday play and I love each and every moment we’re captured.

My favorite video shot on the Handycam would have to be the footage we shot at the lake this year of my little explorer getting up close to the geese.  Every time my daughter sees the video she laughs hysterically and she shows it to everyone we see, whether its via the built-in projection or on the computer.  I love that even with all the action in the video, the shot still stays very clear and the sound quality is great, you can even hear the slight hiss of the geese as they surround us!

It’s pretty cute now, but just imagine how much of a keepsake it will be years from now.  For that reason, I’m going to start taking even more videos each year and really capturing the essence of my kid’s childhood.  Although you can have too much wine or too much chocolate, there’s no such thing as too many videos of your children.

Whether it’s that first wobbly step or it’s a special ballet recital, these are the moments of life you never want to forget and Sony helps you preserve them forever.  What are the moments of your life you are most hoping to capture?

  1. The first time I took my son to Disney, we met up with Mickey, Minnie, Woody and Cinderella. They took all of the kids around the area and starting playing games which began with duck duck goose. My son got tapped in the head from Woody when he said goose and my son got to chase him around the big circle. He was so cute and I wished I had been able to capture the moment on film!

  2. I wish I had captured the first blood work that my daughter was having on video. She was very brave that she did not even cry when the nurse took her blood from her arm when she was 12 months old. I really wish that if I have capture it on video, I could show her that how brave she was.
