Yummie Tummie Shapewear

I found Yummie Tummie shapers last January after an exhaustive search online and fell in love with the idea of a smoother/shaper that was meant to be worn every day. Instead of a corset or heavy duty shaper that has metal, plastic or boning, the Yummie Tummie line is an extremely comfortable alternative to the shapers of the past. Not only are they easy to wear, they also come in adorable designs and colors that make them my favorite tanks and tees ever.

Yummie Tummie was created on the idea that shapewear can be comfortable, fashionable and sexy, and I think they succeeded at all three. Worn either as a layering piece or alone, Yummie Tummie Shapewear is extremely versatile while still offering incredibly effective control and camouflaging properties. With a midsection made with a dual fabric technology that smoothes and slims without wires, the Yummie Tummie is brilliant in its simplicity. Instead of shapers with stiff boning, metal or hard plastic that are uncomfortable or painful, Yummie Tummies’ have no rigid pieces to pinch, poke or chafe. In fact, it looks and feels like any other t-shirt or tank until you put it on and feel the soft fabrics and its awesome shaping properties.

Once you have it on you will notice that the Yummie Tummie tops do not shift, roll or shimmy. Their line of shapewear really stays put unless you are really moving or stretching, and then they only move a minimal amount. The secret to this is their cotton bust and hip panels that are sewn onto their amazing midsection panel that keep the shirt or tank where it should and allows you full range of motion without over exposure.

I love that the Yummie Tummie midsection is made of a material that does not cling to other fabrics. Whereas other shapers are made with fabrics that grip clothing and cause your top layer to cling and hug, Yummie Tummie stomach panels are smooth and slippery and don’t grab clothing. This allows you to wear them under just about anything and not have to tug or adjust all day long.

The Yummie Tummie length is on the longer side, so you can wear it either tucked or leave the cotton portion exposed like you would a tank top or layering tee. Yummie Tummie even offers an extra long length in most styles, which is perfect for those with long torsos, or for underneath tunic tops and are absolutely a godsend to us tall folks who are always bemoaning that nothing ever comes in our size.

Follow their sizing guide carefully and go with your biggest measurement in most cases – the Yummie Tummie tanks are not extremely stretchy, as that would defeat the shaping properties of the tanks and tees. I fell between two sizes so I ended up trying both medium and large and to be completely honest, I love them both. I love that the smaller size has better slimming capabilities, but then I also like the larger size for the ultimate comfort. Even if it’s a bit of a jaunt, I think it’s totally worth it since the Yummie Tummie Shapewear is one of my favorite 2009 finds. Not only do they make you look sleeker and smoother, but they actually are more comfortable than a typical tank or layering tee. The magical tummy panel offers support while being incredibly comfortable and when wearing the Yummie Tummie tanks, I stand up straighter and feel more confident – even with my super low rise jeans, which to me, makes it a wardrobe basic every woman should own!

They have a large selection of styles that come in 10 different colors, so there is a Yummie Tummie for literally every woman. Some have slinky straps, some have sporty straps, some are for under dresses, some have nursing access and still others are true t-shirts. Check out their website to see which style suits you best.
