Thank you to Comcast for inviting us to experience The Secret Life of Pets 2. We are so excited to share some awesome new tech news for pet parents thanks to Comcast! As a society, we’ve long been obsessed with the idea of figuring out what our pets are thinking and why they do the things they do, which is why movies that feature talking animals are always such a hit. This is especially true with the release of The Secret Life of Pets a few years back, which was quickly a favorite with my kiddos. So, to say that they were excited about the new Secret Life of Pets 2 that is out in theaters now is an understatement.
The Secret Life of Pets 2
We were thrilled to be invited as guests of Comcast for a pre-screening of the movie last week, and it was a ton of fun to see with the family before it was even out in theaters. Many of the same beloved characters are back in this new film, as well as the addition of new characters that were quickly embraced by the kiddos – some even replacing their former favorite pets from the first film. We laughed, some of us cried, and we all were transported to a place where pets lead dual lives when their owners aren’t home.
If you have kids that love pets, I would highly recommend seeing this fun, family-friendly film this summer in theaters. It’s a crowd pleaser that can entertain a wide range of ages, and keep them laughing all through to the credits.
Do your pets have a secret life?
I’ve talked in the past about how many uses there are for home cameras, other than the obvious security uses. From keeping track of what family members are at home {and who they have brought home with them} to recording baby’s first steps, there are so many uses for a home camera system. After my sister’s dog almost burnt down her house by turning on the gas stove while she was away and melting the plastic of a nearby pan, one of my top suggestions for all pet owners is to get themselves some security cameras so they can keep an eye on home, even when they are away for long periods of time.
A recent survey from Comcast shows that checking in on pets during the day is one of the most popular uses for home camera systems, which honestly doesn’t surprise me a bit. But, I was surprised by the fact that the nationwide survey of pet owners suggests that owners use home cameras to check up their pets more than their front door. According to the survey, nearly half (44%) of those surveyed check in on their pets four times a day or more, nearly 2 in 5 (38%) take a peek at their pet(s) during work, and 94% say checking in on their pet is one of the best parts of their day.
And, checking in on your pet is about to get even easier with Comcast’s new ‘pet filter’ security camera feature that makes finding clips featuring animals simple and easy with its Xfinity Camera. The filter uses artificial intelligence to quickly sort through hours of footage to identify just those with pets in them out of the more than one hundred motion-triggered video clips a typical camera can generate each day.
