Last month, I joined some of my favorite local bloggers to tour Northgate Mall to show off all the newest happenings just in time for the holidays. We started our party at Mama Stortini's, where we dined on delicious appetizers and enjoyed a glass of wine. From there, we took a mini tour around the mall to see some of my favorite stores and places as well as some of the newer additions to the mall that I hadn't had a chance to enjoy.
From there, we checked out some of the newest features and pop ups at Nordstrom, starting in their awesome makeup and beauty area. I could stay at this counter all day long, trying out new scents and learning about essential oils. They also showed us how the Nordstrom app has been updated to include an option to browse via your cell phone and then have their friendly staff pick your items to have them waiting for you to try on and check out in person. The app can even alert them once you get within a certain radius of the store so they know you are coming – how cool is that?! I love this new feature because I'm often short on time for browsing and wish that I could sort the store for the items I'm looking for.
With this new service, you get the best of both worlds because you can get in and out quickly while still physically trying things on so you don't have to mess with shipping and returning anything you changed your mind on.
After we went to Nordstrom, we went over to Gene Juarez Salon to get makeup tips for the holiday season. They showed us how to go from day to night while trying out the newest makeup trends, which I appreciate because I am in desperate need of a makeup update.
Then, we checked out all the newest tech gifts for all ages at Brookstone. With popular cat-eared headphones, robotic creatures of all kids, massage chairs and tools, housewares and gadgets, and stocking stuffers for just about everyone, it's a must-shop this holiday season. The kids could spend all day there playing with the kinetic sand {which ironically they already own} and trying out anything the employees will let them, and I love that I can try out massage chairs while they create their wishlists. We also visited the Ben Bridge that we've done all of our jewelry shopping at for the past few years. They showed us all of their newest trends, including diamonds in motion and fun and funky gemstones that I am in love with as well as their Pandora line. They even gave us a little Benny Bear with a fun little surprise in it just for us. Then, we got to check out the newest mall construction. As you may know, Northgate Mall has been busy getting a makeover this past year, and just in time for the holidays they are releasing some really amazing new features you can take advantage of while you cross off your lists. Some of my favorite awesome new amenities include free valet {yes, FREE!}, extra parking for those that insist upon parking themselves, a gift wrapping station {how awesome is it that you can leave the mall with your gifts already wrapped?}, free Wi-Fi, and even cell phone charging stations throughout the mall for when you're shopping until you drop.
With three major department stores, a food court, a play area, and tons of stores to choose from, including a few new stores like Famous Footwear and Think Geek, it's easy to find something for everyone on your list. I envy those people who can seemingly shop for everyone they know in one afternoon, but I can totally see doing just that if I was left kidless and husbandless at Northgate Mall for a few hours so I could sneak presents for them while shopping for everyone else on my list. I've already gotten a good start on my holiday shopping thanks to Northgate Mall and I'm feeling a whole lot more prepared coming into the last little bit before the big rush. I know I've said it before, but I love shopping this time of year – the lights, the good cheer, and especially "extra festive hours" – and Northgate Mall is one of my favorite places to shop.
Not only does Northgate Mall have all the stores we've been raving about all year long, they also have some awesome holiday events, sales, and promotions that make shopping even more merry. Of course, there's also the awesome Northgate Mall Santa. My kids love absolutely love the Northgate Mall Santa and I can't help but agree. Not only does he meet the kids personally and have conversations with them, he also takes the time to get them comfortable and listen to their holiday wishes.
