RW FLAME grill for compact spaces

It’s almost Father’s Day and you know what that means: Grilling season is upon us again. Thank goodness that our new RW FLAME grill from Rowan Grills arrived for review just in time for Memorial Day and Father’s Day. It was an unexpected surprise, but it also happened to coincide with us finding out that our old grill was not easily repairable. We were thrilled to test it out and see how going compact for grilling actually makes a whole lot of sense.

Rowan Grills offer a range of options to help you cook like a pro in their RW FLAME grill line, from large party grills to compact patio grills. We got to try out the RW Flame Grill G20B, which is a propane gas grill with 2 burners and is a great little compact patio option.

The two stainless steel burners {8,000 BTU each} delivers a total of 16,000 BTU, as well as providing efficient and consistent heat for versatile cooking. There is a built-in thermometer {0–1000°F} that allows accurate monitoring for searing, slow smoking, or low-heat cooking when the lid is closed. It also has instant ignition with a push of a button for hassle-free grilling.

Why is the G20B RW FLAME grill perfect for urban living?

One of the biggest selling points of the RW FLAME grill is how compact and versatile it is. I would say that it is ideal for 1-4 people based on the grill plate size and that it is perfect for apartment balconies or small urban yards. Even though it has a tiny footprint, the RW FLAME grill provides plenty of room to cook different dishes at the same time, making it perfect for small family cookouts and outdoor gatherings.

Adding to its versatility is the fact that it can fold up when not in use. It has 2 large fold-out sides that extend when you’re cooking. That means you can store BBQ utensils, sides, buns, and condiments, as well giving you a place to put tools on the hooks of the undersides of the tabletops.

But I love that when you’re done cooking you can then fold the tabletops down for storage so you can maximize space on your patio. It also has a great built-in storage rack on the front that can store so much more than spices and rubs. It even includes a stainless steel bottle opener integrated into the design. The G20B RW FLAME grill is lightweight and can easily wheel out of the way when you’re not using it, and it is small enough that it could easily fit in any outdoor space.

The G20B cooking surfaces:

The grill provides plenty of room to cook different dishes at the same time, including coming with both a cast iron grill plate that covers half of the grill and standard grates that cover the other side. The cast iron grill plate is perfect for pancakes or eggs as well as doing smash burgers or grilling onions and peppers. The traditional grill plates are ideal for larger things like burgers, steaks and chicken.

Honestly, I do wish that the G20B RW FLAME grill had grates across the entire grill surface instead of the half-and-half design. If it had grates across the full surface and then came with add-on griddle plates it would be much better for larger families. It’s definitely going to be a squeeze to cook burgers for our family of 5 unless we wanted to do some on the griddle and some on the grates, which feels a little goofy.

But, we’ve got a plan and we’re going to try and order a custom grill grate to modify ours and make it perfect even for larger groups. I do love that it has a removable drip tray below the grill plates for easy cleaning. Wiping out any residue is super easy to do once the grill cools down and is able to be cleaned.

The entire grill weighs in at just 45 lbs and measures ‌42.91″x 39.37″x 20.05″‌, making it easy to wheel around or even carry from location to location. But, don’t mistake lightweight and compact for terrible quality. The G20B RW FLAME grill is built to last with stainless steel and it has a heat-resistant design that prevents warping under high temperatures. I love that it is even backed by a 1-year warranty for worry-free grilling.
