Even though Christmas is a few weeks away, we got to preview some items in the Corolle line including their interactive Lila doll that my daughter has been dreaming about, and it was very popular. My daughter recognized Lila immediately as the one she had written “LOVE” by in the catalog and started jumping up and down with joy.
Since my daughter can’t read, she had no idea that Lila was interactive and just loved her for the same reason she loves all of her Corolle dolls. She was so busy hugging Lila and enjoying the familiar sweet vanilla Corolle scent that she barely even noticed when Lila started to coo back at her. After a momentary shock, it was finally realized – this doll loves me back.
When Lila started to fuss, it was only a moment before she started the baby bounce that every parent knows so well. She then offered her a bottle, which Lila began to “drink” and my daughter was smitten. From then on it was cooing, laughing, and a whole lot of snuggles for the two of them and their love was forever sealed.
And, it's just not my daughter that loves Lila, she's been a huge hit with both kiddos and a constant friend on all of our adventures this fall.
I should mention that I'm not really a fan of toys that make noise – any noise. If a fire truck has a siren it will undoubtedly remain on the toy store shelf, and if a doll cries I will run screaming in the other direction. But, because it’s Corolle, a brand I have trusted since I was little, I gave Lila a shot and I’m really glad I did.
The thing is, my daughter needed a Lila to take care of. Nurturing from even a young age, my daughter has grown up taking care of her Corolle babies and imagining every elaborate scenario, but she really did need an interactive baby doll of her own. And, Lila isn’t the interactive baby from my youth that annoyed even the child playing with it, Lila is a tastefully interactive baby doll.
There are times we ask that the switch on her back be turned off {like when my daughter is babywearing, sleeping, or we are in confined spaces like a car}, but when we are at home we let my daughter leave her on the whole time they play and it’s never an issue. Lila’s voice is quiet enough so it doesn't disturb us all, and the sounds she makes are actually quite pleasant. Of course, I was mostly worried about the cry and was thrilled when I realized her cry isn’t a wail or even a whine, it’s more of a discontent noise, so it’s not the same on-edge feeling I had with other dolls.
Besides, whenever Lila even makes a peep, my daughter goes running as if she’s a real baby and is quick to take care of her all on her own, which she loves. She loves feeding her, tickling her, soothing her, snuggling her, and she loves that Lila responds to her touch. As much as I love to see my daughter giggling with Lila and singing to her as she coos, I also love that my daughter is once again growing with Corolle and learning that taking care of a baby isn’t as simple as feeding and changing and that babies have likes and dislikes that you must learn as
you go.
Corolle's motto is "for every age and stage in a young child's life" and for my daughter, 17" Lila was perfect for this age and this stage. With so many friends, family members, and neighbors having children, newborns are a very big deal around here. My daughter was ready for the next stage of baby doll "motherhood" and needed some interaction. Sure, she could imagine a cry or a coo, but having a doll that responds to her, interacts with her, and teaches her so much was definitely the next step in growing with Corolle.
With how much my daughter has adored playing with Lila over the past few weeks, I have no doubt that the love that they share will last throughout childhood. Like all her other Corolle dolls, Lila is already a beloved friend that has become more than a simple toy.

Wow this is a great gift for my niece! Love that the doll can interact, it’d definitely be a toy that’ll be a hit, i wish they had this doll when i was a kid! 🙂 Great review! thank you, now i know what to get my 3 yr old niece who wants so much a baby sister
Is it crazy I want to get this for my son? We have a baby girl due in February and I was thinking if I could get a baby doll we could start modeling the right way to treat a baby before the real baby arrives. This one would be perfect! I love that it has a quiet little cry!
