Kellogg’s Invites You to Share Your Breakfast with Kids in Need {#ShareUrBreakfast}

Did you know that 1 in 4 US children struggle with hunger?  And, not the kind of hunger that strikes inexplicably when a child sees a treat they really, really want.  I’m talking real hunger, the kind where children are sent to school without something to eat, are missing lunch, or possibly even going to bed hungry. 

Yes, 1 in 4 children, right here in the US.  We are a nation that prides itself on its compassion and empathy for those who have less, but yet we have children who are going hungry every day.  As a mom who has two little ones at home, that statistic just breaks my heart. I cannot imagine not knowing if my children will get the food they need each day or having to worry about going hungry on a regular basis.

Here’s the good news: we can all help… for FREE
The Kellogg Company believes in the power of breakfast and how a good hearty meal can help make the most of each day’s possibilities.  Because of this, they have partnered with Action for Healthy Kids for the Share Your Breakfast initiative to put a potential million breakfasts on the tables of those who need it most.

But, they need your help.  Between now and July 31st, 2011 you can “Share Your Breakfast” with kids in need by texting a picture or description of your breakfast with the word “SHARE” to 21534 or entering directly on the shareyourbreakfast.com website. 

Each time you share your breakfast electronically with Kellogg’s they will share a breakfast with a child who would go hungry otherwise.  One photo upload, photo text, or entry with the description of your breakfast equals one shared breakfast… it’s as easy as that.

But, don’t stop after you’ve hit send.  You can share your breakfast each and every day until July 31st, which equals a whole lot of breakfasts for those in need.
