Magic Cabin Tree Trunk Fairy Home

Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide: Day 16

It's not often that I throw out the word "magic" when describing something, but there is honestly no better description for what you will find on the pages of the Magic Cabin catalog.  The first time I ever looked through a Magic Cabin catalog I didn't even have children yet but even by the first page I had fallen in love.  It was immediately apparent that this was no ordinary kid's toy store, and I knew I was looking at something really special.

Page after page I turned, simply awestruck by all the great educational and imaginative toys as I imagined some day having children that would help me play with them.  Fast forward 5 years, and again I am excitedly looking through their catalog, only this time I do have kids that can appreciate the magic on each page.

DollhousesPg1 But yet again, one page in and I have completely fallen in love.  On that first page of the holiday catalog was this Tree Trunk Fairy Home.  Seriously, have you ever seen a cuter kid's toy?

The first thing that drew me to the Fairy Treehouse was how simply adorable it is, but then the more I pored over the pictures and accessories, the more I fell in love.  You're not going to believe this, but it's actually more adorable in person than it is in pictures.  Even as it was in pieces and waiting to be assembled, I was shaking I was so excited.  Luckily hubby was there to help with the treehouse construction because in no time at all I was playing with it and setting it up for when my daughter woke up.

Construction I can't even begin to tell you how much fun we have had with the tree trunk fairy home.  It's now home to just about every toy under 5" in height that we own, from plush and wooden woodland animals all the way to some fairy ornaments we found that fit inside perfectly.

I think what makes the set so incredibly cool and why I am absolutely convinced that every child needs their own tree trunk home to play with is the fact that it makes playtime so open-ended.  Because the three story design is so simple and classic it can easily become nearly anything your child can dream up – whether it is a hedgehog house, a ninja fort, or an elf and gnome hideaway, it makes it the perfect house for little boys as well as little girls.

Cabin With its rustic spiral staircases, arched windows, and its wooden doors that open and close, I think it's impossible not to be charmed by the Tree Trunk Fairy Home.  While you can certainly play with the fairy home by itself, you can also add on the various fairy home accessories Magic Cabin sells as well.  From woodland dollhouse furniture to mushroom swings and wooden bridge puzzles, they have many sets that are the perfect start to your fairy collection.

Adding to the open-ended play value is the fact that the Tree Trunk Fairy Home is simply crying out for handmade furniture and accessories for all the dolls and animals that call it home.  I’m picturing beds made out of twigs, cozy rugs made out of old sweaters, and reusing small wooden buttons to decorate the walls of the home and my heart is simply melting.  Once you add in the woodland fairy family and some forest animals, you’ve got a recipe for literally decades of play for the whole family.

Back of Cabin It’s really not often that I want to play with a toy {almost} as much as my daughter does and find myself getting excited about all the ways we can expand playtime, but I must admit that it’s quite possible that this Fairy Treehouse was just as much for me as it was for her.  Now when I'm not helping her set up a fairy dance party or teaching her how to properly cook for a fairy family of 7, I'm helping her search for little treasures that her fairies can make their own.

I should state right now for the record that when my kids do eventually outgrow playing with the Tree Trunk Fairy Home, I have absolutely zero plans to get rid of it.  In fact, I have made it clear that there will be numerous places the Fairy Home will be displayed, starting in the living room where it currently looks adorable on the play table, and then to the playroom once the kids can play unsupervised, and then finally to my daughter’s dresser where the Fairy Tree House will become a shelf for all her collectible Steiff animals.  After the kids are grown and busy "playing house" in their real houses, you will find my grandchildren playing with the Magic Cabin Tree Trunk Fairy Home… you know, once they arrive at my house in their hover cars.
