Have you passed by the Teatro ZinZanni historical spiegeltent on Mercer Street in Seattle and wondered what on earth went on beyond those brightly colored walls? 
Now is the perfect chance to check it out with the whole family with Teatro ZinZanni’s new family show, Lighter Than Air. Featuring Seattle’s own kiddie rock band, Recess Monkey, this new show has something for everyone. 
As soon as you enter the lobby, you know you are in for a treat. The lush lobby of Teatro ZinZanni is full of color and excitement, just begging kids to dress up, relax, play pretend, and even grab a snack from the old fashioned snack bar before the show. 
And, then you step inside the gorgeous theater – a lofted tent filled with booths, chairs, and for this show, a “mosh pit” where kids can enjoy the show while they dance.
There was a hot air balloon, a tap dancing seafarer {Tippy Tap}, a scientist {Professor Loco}, circus acts, and through it all, Recess Monkey kept everyone rocking and having a great time. Their newest album "Hot Air" served as the inspiration for Lighter Than Air – a title which also happens to be a track name off the new Recess Monkey album. 
I will admit that as much as I like Recess Monkey albums, it just doesn’t compare with seeing them perform live, and especially with the action of Teatro ZinZanni up close and personal complementing their sound. And, I know I wasn’t alone because many of the children {and parents} were singing along and joining in during the audience participation portions. Honestly, I feel like it would be hard to not get swept up in the performance. 
Ever since the show ended, the kids have been asking about going again soon, and honestly I would consider taking them a second time to this same show instead of waiting for the next Teatro ZinZanni release – it's that good.
