Upgrade your bathroom with the HOROW T38P Smart Toilet

So very grateful for the HOROW T38P smart toilet that was sent to us for review. As always, no monetary compensation was received for this Rave Review.

I used to roll my eyes at “smart” everything, insisting that not everything needs to be smart and arguing further that some things are even better “dumb”. But you know what? Toilets aren’t on that list anymore. I still don’t want my toilet contacting me or tracking me in any way whatsoever, but the HOROW T38P Smart Toilet officially proved to me that intelligent toilets are anything but eye-roll-worthy.

HOROW T38P

Honestly, I can’t believe I went so long with a dumb toilet; the HOROW T38P is truly a game changer. The HOROW T38P smart toilet combines ADA-compliant comfort, a built-in water tank, dual flush and anti-clog design, heated seat, advanced bidet cleansing, built-in dryer, auto open/close/flush, and a UV sanitizing light. It delivers hands-free convenience, superior hygiene, and top-of-the-line performance regardless of water pressure.

Its minimalist design has a very space age vibe to it, partly because of the lack of separate water tank and the sleek shape of the bowl and partly due to the screen on the back of the toilet. The hands-free experience means that the toilet “greets” you when you approach and the toilet automatically lifts open for you while warming your seat and water then auto closes and flushes when you are done.

HOROW T38P

There are so many features packed into this small throne that I could go on for days, but instead I will give you the lowdown on the installation process and the quick overview of my favorite features so far.

Installing the HOROW T38P

Honestly, I was more than a little worried about installation. It’s hard to get an idea of what you need to do to prepare to install until you begin the process and I was lucky I had my husband who had a pretty good idea of the steps before starting. But even though I was apprehensive about the process I was pleasantly surprised when installation of the T38P was pretty straightforward.

The built-in tank and pump make it work with standard 12-inch rough-in, but I highly recommend hiring a plumber if you’re not handy. The footprint is larger than I realized, so my husband had to move the water line over a few inches because the toilet partially covered the old one. He said it was no big deal and he actually got lucky that there was some give to the plumbing so he could reposition easily, but it did require cutting some drywall in order to access the pipes.

Again, I highly recommend calling in help when moving the T38P as the toilet is heavy and difficult to lift onto the flange and braces. My husband simply picked it up and set it in place like it was nothing, but there’s absolutely no way I could have done that myself, especially given that even though smart toilets are heavy-duty, they can be more fragile than the old models. You will want to take extra caution with the sensor at the front of the bowl and any electronic parts.

HOROW T38P

It should also be noted that the T38P requires a grounded 120 V, 60Hz, 15A outlet nearby to work. Most newer bathrooms will have a close-by outlet, but for bathrooms like ours that was built before 2015 and has a separate room for the toilet you will need to run power to the unit.  For this you will definitely want to hire an electrician to run power to the toilet. Actually, hire a professional if any of the above paragraphs made you even slightly concerned – just trust me.

HOROW T38P

Personalized options

Most Americans have not used a bidet or dryer before, so I love that you can fully control the HOROW T38P or not use the built-in bidet or dryer at all. If you decide to use either one you can use the remote control to tailor your cleaning/drying experience. Curved spray nozzle design gives wider spray range than straight nozzles as well as being more hygienic and more efficient. The warm air dryer has 4 adjustable temperature levels.

HOROW T38P

Automatic nozzle cleaning

Dual protection with automatic nozzle cleaning and UV sterilization ensures every wash is fresh, safe, and hygienic. You can also remove nozzles if you need to clean them inside and out, reducing mineral buildup over time.

Touch-free and hygienic

One thing I didn’t realize I would like as well as I do are the hands-free flushing options. I hate the sensor-based toilets at stores and restaurants and figured I’d be equally opposed to an auto flush at home, but I actually love it. The HOROW T38P has never accidentally flushed while one of us was using it, but even if it did it doesn’t have the kind of flush that would terrify young children. If you prefer more options you can choose between auto flush, remote-controlled, or manual with the kick button in front.

Powerful flush

Having a quieter flush doesn’t mean it’s less powerful. It has a 100W motor and precision flush channeling even with lower water pressure. Another thing I love is the anti-clog architecture because my kids love to clog toilets with Kleenex and then claim they have no idea who did it. The T38P has a built-in water tank that uses 1.0 GPF for a half flush and 1.28 GPF for a full flush. The kick control activates a half flush, while the side button or remote control activates a full flush.

Optional battery power supply

Since the HOROW T38P requires electricity to work, an optional battery pack is available so you can flush during power outages. You can purchase the manual flush backup battery box separately from HOROW.

Separate water supply

The HOROW T38P has one water path for flushing and a completely separate one for cleansing. Only filtered, freshly heated water touches your skin, and it is never shared, never recycled. The cleansing spray offers instant warm water and has front and rear wash modes, both of which you can control with the remote control.

HOROW T38P

Effortless clean

In addition to an anti-bacterial UV light that automatically cleans after each use there is also a built-in dispenser that creates a cleansing Foam Shield on some HOROW T38 models. You can use this to create a layer of foam over the bowl water on demand. The foam helps reduce splashing and odors while lubricating the bowl surface to make residue less likely to stick. Unfortunately, you won’t know if your toilet has the Foam Shield Technology option unless you contact the company since the foam cleaner is not included with the toilet. This foam must be purchased separately so I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to check this feature. The automatic Foam Shield function is disabled by default and can be enabled in settings mode if you purchase the Foam Shield in the future.

HOROW T38P

Comfortable and accessible height

The T38P has an elevated 17.56-inch seat height which can make sitting down and standing up more comfortable for users who prefer a taller toilet. The ADA-compliant design provides enhanced comfort and accessibility, catering to individuals with mobility challenges or those who are tall. The elongated heated seat has 4 temperature levels for maximum comfort.

Bonus light show

The HOROW T38P has a dynamic LED display with immersive art light and graphics as well as an intelligent night light help light the way to and from the toilet. If you love mood lighting you will also love selecting which ambient glow you prefer – which is most impressive in the middle of the night when you don’t want to use overhead lights.

User-friendly smart toilet personalized to you

To be clear, I still don’t want my toilet to text me, email me, fax me, call me, or alert me on my phone in any way, really. But, this smart toilet proved to me that I was entirely wrong about what I want “intelligent” in my home and a toilet is 100% on that list now. The HOROW T38P is perfect if you’re looking for a smart toilet that does it all and is packed with features for your modern bathroom. From warming you up to lighting your way, customizable cleaning, remote control options galore, hands-free flushing and all the hygienic bells and whistles, it really has it all.

HOROW T38P

Amazing price point for a truly smart toilet

If you’ve priced intelligent toilets in the past, you know how crazy the prices get, fast. The HOROW T38P comes in far less than Kohler or Toto for their models with all the similar features, but still offers all of the premium functions. If you’re considering a smart toilet, the HOROW T38P has it all and doesn’t have the hugely inflated price.

Warranty and customer service

If you do a quick search for HOROW online you will find page after page praising their amazing {and fast!} customer service. It’s clear that HOROW values each customer’s experience and believes in the quality of their products absolutely. In fact, each of their toilets come with lifetime after-sales service and 1-year limited warranty.
