Spice things up with Savory Spice

I fell in love with Savory Spice years ago when they first came to the Alderwood Mall. It was extra convenient that they were located across from the old American Girl location, because when the kids wanted to go to AG, I got a trip to Savory Spice. Although American Girl has been gone for a few years now, Savory Spice is still my go-to for spices, herbs, and seasoning mixes of all kinds – as well as great gifts for the cook in your life.

As I said, we’ve been huge fans for years and years now, and I would wager we’ve tried a good 75% of their products in that time. Honestly, there hasn’t been a single item we haven’t liked out of all of that experimenting, and some have been so incredible that they made it on the must-have list that we always keep on hand.

We got so into their products that we actually needed to re-do our spice cabinet to hold more options because we were running out of space and had too many favorites to store. Side note: if you haven’t seen these Vertical Spice sliding spice shelves before, get ready for your mind to be blown. Now all of my Savory Spices are organized, accessible, and as an added bonus, they look amazing.

Savory Spice

The Top Sellers gift set contains (8) of their best-selling seasonings and essential spices in medium glass jars:

  • Black Garlic Salt – This intensely flavored black garlic salt infuses sweet, caramelized black garlic into Himalayan sea salt and Mayan sea salt, with an added bonus of tangy Korean Gochugaru chile flakes. The result is a delicious, one-of-a-kind, umami-flavored seasoning salt that can complement the flavor of nearly any recipe – but, it’s particularly good with meats, eggs, and potatoes.
  • Capitol Hill Seasoning – One of their very best-selling spice blends, the Capital Hill Seasoning is a oniony and herbal all-purpose seasoning that combines fresh sea salt and cracked pepper with shallots, chives, dill and parsley. It’s perfect for seafood and chicken, scrambled eggs and omelets, or potatoes and other root vegetables. Sprinkle on avocado toast, mix in sour cream for a dip, or blend with oil and vinegar for an easy salad dressing.
  • Taco Seasoning – Until I tried the Savory Spice taco seasoning, I was under the mistaken impression that all taco seasonings were basically the same. But this 5-star customer favorite blew all the rest out of the water. You can use it to season your taco meat, whether cooking with ground beef, ground turkey, chicken or tofu, but it’s also great for seasoning hamburgers, chili, burritos, nachos or enchiladas. Once you try this blend of freshly ground taco spices with chiles, garlic, cumin, Mexican oregano, and more, it will become your go-to for taco night.
  • Onion & Garlic Tableside Sprinkle – This was the very first Savory Spice blend we ever tried, and we were absolutely hooked after first taste. Before you know it, you’ll be using this garlic and onion spice blend in just about every recipe. In my opinion, it’s the perfect blend of white onion, roasted garlic and minced green onion for so many dishes like soups, sauces, sautés, as well as garlic bread, potatoes, and more. We love it so much that we keep a bottle of in our spice cupboard and always have another one waiting in the wings so we never, ever run out.
  • Pikes Peak Butcher’s Rub – This classic salt and pepper-based meat rub is the perfect addition to chicken, pork or steak prior to throwing on the grill. You can mix this butcher’s rub into ground beef {or ground turkey or chicken} for burgers, or it can also be used as an all-purpose seasoning on roasted and grilled vegetables.
  • Brooklyn Everything Bagel Blend – This amazing medley is inspired by a New York bagel classic and is sure to be a favorite at your house. Everything bagel seasoning is one of our very favorite finds, and for so much more than bagels. Sprinkle over smoked salmon, use as a flavorful coating on deep fried foods, use it on avocado toast, on potatoes, roasted veggie, and just about, well… everything.
  • Italian Herbs –  Use a pinch of Italian herb seasoning in your spaghetti sauce recipe, or with eggplant, chicken, veal parmesan, or chicken piccata. Try Italian herbs on your favorite pizza sauce, or sprinkling it right on your pizza or garlic bread just before baking. I love that it is super flavorful, but isn’t spicy like other pizza seasonings since it doesn’t have red pepper flakes.
  • Whiskey Barrel Smoked Black Pepper – If you want real slow-smoked flavor you will love these Whiskey Barrel Smoked Black cracked peppercorns. These cracked peppercorns are slow smoked by hand in-house using oak staves from whiskey barrels. Season your meats on the grill when you’re looking to add that classic slow-smoked, charcoal barbecue flavor, or as a finishing touch after cooking.

If you are looking to create your own bundle, here’s a few more favorites to try out.

  • Black Truffle Parmesan Seasoning – This easy-to-use seasoning blends the umami flavor of black truffles with salty parmesan cheese. Use to season truffle fries, toss in popcorn or flavor scrambled eggs. Sprinkle Black Truffle and Parmesan seasoning on salad, vegetables, pasta, or risotto, it’s an easy way to add rich, gourmet truffle flavor to any meal.
  • Spanish Coupe Saffron – Whether you are making gourmet Spanish paella, French bouillabaisse or Italian risotto recipe to the next level, Spanish saffron is the secret. This Spanish Coupe Saffron easily adds luxurious aroma, color and flavor to Arabic lamb, Italian sauces, Spanish rice or holiday baked breads. You will notice that the glass jar isn’t completely full, and you will find that the price of Spanish saffron tends to be expensive. This is because of the rarity in harvesting saffron threads, but also because the quality is of the best saffron you can get from the La Mancha region. Luckily, most recipes that require saffron only need around 2-3 saffron threads per serving so this jar should last longer than you think.
  • Italian Black Truffle Sea Salt – This robust, aromatic black truffle salt adds a distinct flavor that’s highly sought after by 5-star chefs and foodies alike. The perfect mixture of highly prized Italian black truffles and all-natural, pure fine sea salt from the Pacific Ocean is the perfect seasoning to take your home cooking to the next level. Add it to fried foods, popcorn, and so much more. You won’t regret it.

About Savory Spice

In 2004, Savory Spice opened their very first location in Denver, Colorado. After the immediate success of their first shop, they decided to take their concept a step further and created a Savory Spice website, making their creations available to those who couldn’t come in-store to shop. Building on the positive response to their Denver location and the online shop, they opened a second location in Littleton, Colorado, followed by shops in Boulder and East Denver two years later.

Since then, with the help of employees, family members and colleagues, Savory Spice and its franchisors now operate nearly 30 locations across the United States. They continue to bring creative flavor solutions to their customers, from the popular Spice ‘n Easy line to new products, and their customer favorites.
