Looking for a fun {and cheap} way to entertain the family this summer? Here are some options that will make your summer amazing by utilizing these cheap or free summer movie programs.
Summer Movie Express {Regal Cinemas}
When: Tuesday & Wednesday morning 10:00am
What: For only $1, you can choose between two family friendly movies playing each Tuesday & Wednesday during the summertime!
We started going to these when my nephew was little and have been taking advantage of this amazing deal for almost two decades now. My kids love that they get to choose a movie, and I love that there are multiple theaters playing each movie every week so we’ve never had it sell out on us.
The details: Tickets are available for purchase at the box office and all movies in most locations start at 10:00 am. Check with your theater for exact showtimes. Each week both movies play on both days. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Will Rogers Institute.

Summer Movie Camp {AMC Theatres}

What: For only $4, you can watch a kid friendly movie every Wednesday morning at participating AMC Theatres. Each kids admission also includes a KidsPack of AMC snacks complete with a kid’s popcorn, fountain drink, and FrootiTooti fruit snacks. How awesome is that?
Sadly, we don’t have an AMC theatre near us that is participating this summer, but I do hope our local theaters eventually join in. Check that your theater is participating ahead of time to plan your summer.
The Details: Tickets are available for purchase at the box office and all movies in most locations start at 10:00 am. Check with your theatre for exact showtimes. Excludes July 4th.

Looking for more ways to save on taking your family to the movies? More cheap and free summer movie programs and savings:
Movies in the park: Most towns offer movies in the parks during the summer, and I know there are multiple by us. They may not get the newest movies, but they are a fun way to unwind at the end of a long summer day.
MoviePass: If you weren’t scared off by my last MoviePass review and you aren’t daunted by the new announcement that MoviePass is limiting movies for new subscribers, that may be another way you can save on taking your family to the movies. As I said before, my husband loves his MoviePass subscription and swears I’m just one of the unlucky ones. If you really, really love movies it might be worth it to roll the dice and take your chances.
Matinees, students, and military: Yes, you probably already knew these discounts existed, but I had to mention them in case you hadn’t factored in these money savings.
Pre-buy at Costco: If you are a Costco member, you can save on movie tickets by purchasing discount packs in the store. They typically offer tickets for major theater chains like Cinemark, AMC, and Regal for a few bucks less, which can add up for larger families.
