In my quest for cozy fall clothing that is just as fashionable as it is comfortable, I once again turned to one of my favorite brands, prAna. My goal when selecting fall pieces is that they are versatile enough to go from work to play and that they can go seamlessly into winter. In terms of diverse clothing lines, it really doesn't get any better than prAna.

If you aren’t already familiar with the brand, prAna clothing is different than the standard outdoorsy clothing in that most of their line would be as at home in the mountains as it would be while traveling, exploring a town near you, or simply hanging out on a cozy evening at home. As a Northwest native, I see more than my fair share of outdoorsy clothing each year, but rarely do I find a company like prAna that pulls together mountain retreat attire, travel comfort and sportswear without ever coming across as too casual for everyday wear. Instead of the standard washed out cotton clothing typically marketed to women in outdoor shops, their clothing is truly stylish as well as still being functional and comfortable. In fact, the prAna website and catalogue looks nothing like an outdoorsy catalogue at all, but rather just looks like a popular women’s clothing catalogue that just happens to showcase a wide range of products from a huge variety of styles, one of them being outdoor-friendly designs.

I got to try a sampling of prAna’s fall line this year and love the brand even more now. I was searching for a Henley that I could wear under a thick, cozy sweater but could also be worn on its own and found the perfect one in the Devan Henley. A hoodie Henley is basically stuff dreams are made of, so I fell hard this little number that is as perfect for lounging around the house as it is for traveling and exploring. The organic cotton jersey blend of the Devan is super soft {even the hood ties are soft and velvety!}, and the Henley runs big for a super cozy feel.  Since a hoodie Henley is very much in my comfort zone, I wanted to step outside it a bit when finding my perfect fall pants. The Mantra Pant is made from soft hemp that is blended with stretch fabric and trimmed with organic cotton, making it have the look and feel of a pair of trousers, but wearing much like a pair of yoga pants. The Sutra stretch and knit waistband paired with the lightweight fabric definitely aren’t my norm, but I love that the Mantra has front pockets, a gorgeous herringbone design, and nicely hemmed seams that make it possible to dress the Mantra up with a nice blouse or simply wear them like pajama bottoms for hanging out by the fire. I will admit I never thought I would own hemp clothing, but after reading that growing hemp doesn’t require any chemical pesticides or fertilizers and the fact that is drought resistant means that it does wonders for the soil it’s grown in. Farmers who grow hemp are able to plant food crops in the same field immediately after harvest—something not possible with a lot of other crops. The resulting fabric of the Mantra with 53% hemp, 44% recycled polyester and 3% spandex with ends up looking much more like a fine linen than it does traditional hemp fabric. In addition to having adorable and awesome clothing, prAna is very much committed to the environment, going above and beyond to limit their resource consumption as well as their employees’.
