Sabra Hummus: Healthy Summer Snacking

My kiddos love Sabra hummus.  Maybe it’s because they think they are eating “dip” which they know they are not allowed to do, or maybe they just inherited hubby’s and my love of the stuff.  Whatever the reason, we’ll take it.  It’s quick and easy, it’s good for them, and it fills them up quick, whether served as a meal or a snack.

Even my little guy, who has a tendency towards picky eating, will eat bite after bite of hummus {providing you let him feed himself, otherwise he wants nothing to do with it}.  He just recently started asking for it, which means we always have it stocked in our fridge and ready for a quick snack or a picnic.

While I used to make all of our hummus from scratch, we’ve just gotten so busy the past few years that I never seem to get around to it even though I have the best intentions.  So, instead, we’ve been indulging in the delicious goodness that is Sabra and enjoying every minute of it.

Tuscan Herb HummusAnd, I do mean indulging.  We got to try out three new varieties, the Tuscan Garden Hummus, Southwest Garden Hummus and Asian Fusion Garden Hummus a few weeks ago, and they were all delicious.  We tend to just choose the roasted garlic when we go shopping, so this was a great way to try out some of their other varieties with international flare.

Southwest HummusThey were all good in their own way with subtle flavors and the hummus taste we love, so it would be hard for me to even choose a favorite of the bunch.  But, while I don’t have a favorite, I was most surprised by the Asian Fusion Garden Hummus since I wouldn’t have imagined the flavors would mix that well.  I thought it was just the right amount of spices and flavors and it paired well with the hummus taste and texture, especially as a dip for the veggies we're growing in our garden.

And, since we’ve been focusing on eating healthier, that’s the way we’ve been eating it most often.  But, incorporating hummus in wraps, salads and more is also a great way to add some spice to your meal and I can pack in a whole lot more nutrition than other sauces or condiments.

In my quest to get creative with the new varieties we were sent, I spent a lot of time checking out their recipe section of the site and was seriously blown away – I had no idea you could make so many recipes with hummus!  https://sabra.com/recipes  Don’t you want to make this hummus stuffed chicken breast recipe?  Seriously.  Yum.

But, while Sabra is known for their hummus, I found out by visiting the site that they have other products, including salsas, dips and guacamole that I’m dying to try.  We’ve gotten very into guacamole instead of empty calorie dips on sandwiches and chicken, and I don’t know if I can ever go back.  After having tried some of the newest Sabra items, I will be eagerly awaiting their guacamole coming to a store near us.  Doesn’t it look delicious?

Whether you are planning picnics, BBQs or get-togethers this summer, Sabra would be a great addition to any party.  It’s a huge crowd pleaser at every event we take it to, and it’s now the dish everyone asks for.  But, best of all, you can pair it with veggies, chips, pitas, and more as well as choose any number of Sabra flavors to suit the rest of the menu, so it’s bound to go over well!

  1. I’ve tried some of these, but our grocery store is itty bitty. I really want to try the Southwest Garden hummus or the Luscious Lemon hummus.

I bought hummus a while ago thinking I might like it and for my husband to try and he never did…all of a sudden yesterday he asked me did you ever try hummus it’s really good, “are you kidding me…I bought it a year ago and you didn’t want to try it”,anyway I know he would love the Buffalo Style Hummus flavor.
