Did you watch the solar eclipse today? We didn’t go out of our way to see it, but we did step out onto the porch to watch it. We were only 93% eclipsed here, but it was still pretty cool and I’m glad we got to see it with our neighbors. It was the first of my lifetime in the Pacific Northwest and I wasn’t exactly sure what the expect. It didn’t get nearly as dark as I thought it would get, but it was still pretty spectacular.

Matching Girls Monday: Ferry fashion
Oh summer, how I love you! Seattle has been having the most beautiful summer and we’re busy out exploring every day and especially on the weekends. In one of our trips up to Seattle Premium Outlets this month I hopped into the Hanna Andersson outlet and I found these gorgeous red dresses on the $10 … Read more
Strengthening the sibling bond with Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #UltimatePitStop #CollectiveBiasAround here it’s been a mini construction zone for days. The kiddos have been busy repurposing toys, household items, and art supplies to create a little world for them to play in. This may look like any old kids’ project, but for them, and for our family, this isn’t just child’s play or a random assortment of things – this is how the siblings bond using Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3.

If you know my older kids, you know they are exceptionally close, despite being different genders and over two years apart in age. They play together happily for hours and hours each day and for the most part agree on toys, activities, and things they enjoy. But, there has been one activity they have disagreed on since my son was old enough to communicate.
Matching Girls Monday: my little redheads
Matching Girls Monday: Mother’s Day Edition
In honor of Mother's Day this week, the girls and I were rocking the matching Mommy-and-Me plaid. I had been stashing these shirts away waiting for a day to surprise my girls, and Mother's Day seemed like as good of day as any. You should have heard the squealing that ensued when I brought them out of my closet and presented them to my daughters.
Matching Girls Monday: vacation style
My matching girls were comfortable and cute while traveling this spring. When we are traveling, I like to dress them in clothing that is comfortable to play in, sleep in, and can be layered for warmth. During the day, they took off the leggings to wade in the water looking for fresh water clams, and later in the afternoon when the wind picked up, we added light coats and the outfit easily went from day to night.
Matching Girls Monday: feeling springy with fun florals
It's finally feeling a little bit like spring here in Seattle, so we celebrated with a day on the riverfront in Fremont. The girls wore their new Floral Poplin Peasant Tops from OshKosh, paired with their Old Navy jean jackets, grey pants {Tucker+Tate for Nordstrom for my oldest, Carter's last season for my little one}, … Read more
American Girl for everyone
My oldest fell in love with American Girl when she was only 1 year old, so we’ve been American Girl crazy for years and years now. But, that love is even stronger now that we officially have a doll for everyone, thanks to the newest American Girl contemporary dolls. Like most families, we start with the Bitty Baby line and then we ease in slowly to the American Girl Wellie Wisher, BeForever, Truly Me, and Contemporary lines. That transition is always a big deal when they go from baby to adolescent and with that comes doll books, movies, accessories, and more to immerse them further into the world of American Girl.
But, until this month, there was nowhere for my son to go after he outgrew his Bitty Baby boy {which thankfully hasn’t happened yet}. I dreaded the day my son would be done with babies and his love of American Girl would slowly fade while his sisters continued to play. I don’t need to worry about that anymore, because his love has only deepened with the introduction of Tenney Grant and Logan Everett.
On siblings and love
Did you know today is National Siblings Day? In honor of the holiday, I thought I would share some thoughts on siblings and love.
Siblings: Talking About My Generation
I am one of 5 children, all born relatively close in age and all unusually close. Growing up, there was always someone to play with and although we fought like brothers and sisters do, our fights were short-lived and we all made up easily. During different times in my life I’ve alternated who I’ve been closest with, and because of this I have developed a strong bond with every single one of them.
Throughout the years we’ve all chosen to live relatively close together {although this won’t be true for long – sob, sob}, and we’ve chosen to remain friends even through the ups and downs of childhood, teenage years, and now into adulthood. When something big happens, they are the first people I turn to. And, when one of them needs me, I will drop everything to help.
