Get back to The Wonder Years: the complete series is finally available on DVD
“Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you’re in diapers: the next you’re gone. But, memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul.” Kudos to anyone who recognized this quote as the narration that concluded the television show The Wonder Years in 1993. This is one of my favorite quotes from a movie/show of all time, and it has stayed with me through more than two decades.
Excited to watch the series again and introduce my own children to it, I was positively thrilled when I found out that the entire series was going to be released by Time Life for the first time on DVD this year. But, I was even more excited when I realized that it wasn’t just any multi-DVD set that was coming out, it was a special collector’s edition set with special features, a yearbook, and an awesome metal locker to store it all in. Just look at all this awesomeness. I am in 80s heaven over here flipping through the books and checking out all the behind-the-scenes goodies.
Disney’s Cinderella is available on Digital HD, Blu-ray & Disney Movies Anywhere
Ever since we saw the Seattle screening of the new live-action Cinderella movie, my kids have been begging me to watch it again. We even thought we were going to watch the new Cinderella one night at an outdoor movie event with our neighbors and were so excited. It was more than a little disappointing when it ended up being the older animated version that we already own, but I’m happy the kids handled it as well as they did and enjoyed the older movie together.
Knowing that they were crazy excited to watch the film again, I had the release date off 9/18/2015 set in my calendar so I could make sure I picked it up as soon as it came out. We were thrilled when we finally got a chance to have a Cinderella viewing party with our neighbors who were also owed a re-do on the Cinderella movie night.
101 Dalmatians Diamond Edition arrives on DVD and Blu-ray combo pack today
101 Dalmatians, one of the most beloved movies of my childhood is arriving for the first time on Digital HD, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Disney Movies Anywhere and On-Demand and I couldn't be happier. I've been waiting to share the film with my family for years and have been counting down the days until we could enjoy a family movie night with Pongo, Perdita, and their adorable puppies.
When my firefighter-obsessed son first spied the 101 Dalmatians DVD and Blu-ray combo pack that arrived last week, he immediately declared that he wanted to watch the "fire dog movie". While I made sure to tell him there was no fire theme to the movie, I knew he wouldn't be upset once he saw the film and got to see the adorable puppies on the screen.
Disney’s MUPPETS MOST WANTED on Blu-ray Combo Pack today!
In our family, Kermit is a very big deal. He is part of nearly all of our vacations and our vintage Kermit puppet has travelled extensively around the US and even into Canada and Europe. Are you like us and can’t get enough Kermit? You’re in luck because the new movie Muppets Most Wanted has not one, but TWO Kermits! Okay, it technically only has one, but don’t tell Constantine, aka The World’s Number One Criminal, that we’re not buying his impersonation of our beloved Kermit.
We’ve gone Tinker Bell crazy thanks to Disney’s The Pirate Fairy
I love Peter Pan. So much so that I have a spot in my house that pays homage to the classic Disney film. This is the children’s play space, affectionately dubbed the “Scrog Pit” and it has a mural of a ship on the water with Never Land off in the distance.
Like I said, big Peter Pan fans around here. Maybe it’s because I never really grew up myself, but I never really grew out of Tinker Bell. I was hoping my daughter would have the same love of Tink and her fairy friends, and I can definitely say I’ve gotten my wish.

Have you heard the news? The Little Mermaid, one of the most celebrated animated films of all
time, is available for first time ever on Blu-ray! Wooohooo!

Welcome to the world of Mike the Knight
by Susan, editor and reviewer
I'm not going to lie; my kids love TV. Sure, we love playing outside together, and building with blocks, but they are also big fans of the TV. When I was first pregnant, visions of sharing princess movies with my kids danced in my head. So far, I have boys. Boys who are not interested in princesses. Thank goodness for Mike the Knight!
When we first discovered Mike and his friends in Glendragon, I was very happy. It's a very vibrant show that really teaches kids about problem solving, being a good friend, and doing the right thing! "Be a knight; do it right!" is always the end motto – and the one most repeated by my 3 year old.
As a parent, I really appreciate the positive message the show teaches, including some deeper things like equality, accepting all people (or trolls or Vikings) for who they are. Mike, his horse Galahad, and his two dragon friends Sparkie and Squirt have many adventures, and work together to help Mike find the knightly way to handle every situation; including getting along with his little sister Evie!
Oz The Great And Powerful out on Blu-ray and DVD today!
When I was young, I memorized every word in The Wizard of Oz movie. And, to this day, every night before bed, my daughter and I sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” together as part of our bedtime routine. Obviously, I’m busy cultivating a deep love for all things Oz at a young age.
And, now is the best time to be introducing her to Oz with the release of Disney’s Oz The Great And Powerful that comes out TODAY on Blu-ray and DVD. While I saw Oz when it was in theatres {and loved it}, I really wanted to watch the film over and over again to see everything I might have missed the first time, so I knew this would be one film we would definitely have to own. When a copy arrived for review, I was so incredibly excited that we planned an Oz night to watch it.
LINCOLN on DVD and Blu-ray now
Remember last November when I was raving about the new Steven Spielberg film, LINCOLN? The huge Lincoln fan in me has been eagerly awaiting the DVD and Blu-ray release so I could see the movie again {and again, and again}, so I was thrilled when LINCOLN hit shelves last month. As one of my favorite … Read more
