Eddie Bauer Introduces New Perfect Fit Denim

I have a love/hate relationship with jeans.  On one hand they are awesome – they go with everything, you can dress them up or down, and they are so comfortable.  But, on the other hand, finding that perfect jean fit sometimes seems impossible.

When Eddie Bauer invited me to check out their new Perfect Fit denim at a fitting event in Seattle, I jumped at the chance.  When else can I be professionally fitted by experts with input from those who actually designed their new denim line?  So, a day after we returned from BlogHer in NYC, we headed down to University Village and met their team.

Eddi Bauer EventThey started off by explaining about their new StayShape denim, about all the hours of research and design that went into their three new fits, and all the ways they have improved upon their classic styles.  The new jeans still come in straight leg and boot cut, but the new line includes three fits – “curvy”, “slightly curvy”, and “truly straight”.  These three fits have various length options {short, regular, long, petite, and tall} and come in sizes 0-20 with “curvy” adding plus sizes 16W-24W.

They took my measurements and explained about how to find out what fit is right for you based on your numbers {go here to see what you would be based on your measurements}.  It turns out that I am directly between “curvy” and “slightly curvy” so they grabbed me some jeans based on this as well as some “truly straight” so I could see the difference.

All in all, I tried on 12 pairs of jeans in various sizes and fits.  I found I was more comfortable in a size smaller than where I was measuring, which is always a nice surprise and meant I could rule out 4 of the jeans right off the bat.

The other 8 were much harder to narrow down because they all looked and felt really good, but after gathering opinions from all the experts, as well as my daughter who thinks she’s an expert, I finally found my perfect pair of jeans.  And no, it wasn’t a “curvy” dark wash boot leg in tall, as everyone thought it would be.

My Perfect Fit denim actually ended up being a “truly straight” dark wash straight leg.  I know, I was surprised, too.  While there are a few reasons why your measurements could come back with one fit but you prefer another, the theory I have gathered from my Perfect Fit experience is that because I’m tall and have a longer torso, I can actually go with a straight style as well as with the curvier styles.

The straight leg was something I never even considered going into the dressing room – I mean, I’m curvy, doesn’t that look awful with skinny jeans?  Didn’t stylists used to tell you that a boot cut would balance out a bigger hip and make you look more in proportion?  I guess I just assumed that because of that, a skinny leg jean would look awful on me and therefore never tried them.

It turns out, I can *sorta* rock a straight leg jean, and I fully intend to do so. I don't want to brag or anything, but I've gotten so many compliments on my new jeans whenever I've worn them.  That's approximately 1,000% more compliments than my other jeans were getting, which are some pretty good odds, right?  And, did I mention they are totally comfortable, even right out of the dryer?  Love!

Want to find your Perfect Fit?  You can do so easily online by following their fit guide, or you can pop into an Eddie Bauer store near you and let their experts do it for you.  Who knows, you might just surprise yourself with which ones you end up rocking.

Oh, and did I mention this?  Yep, their denim is BOGO 50% off right now!
