Back to school with Lands’ End and Momtrends NYC event

Night
Recently, I went back to school with 200+ bloggers while at BlogHer.  While we did load buses, take class pictures, and get report cards, this was a very different kind of school than you’re used to.  For one, this school was co-run by two of our favorite brands, Lands' End and Momtrends, and passing grades meant you got an adorable backpack to take home.

As usual, I got straight As.  But this time I can give some credit to the instructors who all did a wonderful job of teaching their “course” and for their very, very lax grading system that seemed to be mostly based off of attendance.

Thank goodness that for the first time since secondary school, I was actually really excited for each of my courses {Pants 101, Design Your First Day, Dress Test, Hair School, Class Picture and more}.  I learned a whole lot about the brand, its newest reinforced knee denim technology, and all the different ways their kid’s catalog offerings can mix and match for the first day of school.

I got to create my perfect look for my daughter’s first day of school and if I do say so myself, it was pretty adorable.  All of the accessories were gone when I got my chance to design, but I still got some great basics paired with the most adorable skirt and sweater.  The look was just missing a great belt and a pair of flats.  Like any of these, really.

Afterwards we learned all about dressing for our figures with
blogger and plus-size advocate Brittany Gibbons and got to try on two of Lands' End best-selling dresses.  Once we had talked accessories and figure-flattering looks, the last thing to do was pose for a class portrait.  I was surprised mine turned out as well as it did for being such a sweltering hot day, but I guess the photographer was magic.  That’s the only explanation I can think of.

HeadshotEven though it was a packed schoolhouse, we had plenty of time for studies and even a little time for shenanigans while we waited in line and during passing time.  Then, during “lunch” we got to meet Sam Talbot {Top Chef} who gave us great tips about fixing fun lunches for kids as well as the wonderful people at Happy Family who gave us some samples of the HappyTotPlus line to take back to my very appreciative kiddos.

As with every Momtrends event I've attended, there was also a little pampering for us as well.  The Lands' End event included hair from Warren Tricomi and makeup touch-ups using products from Revlon, which unfortunately I didn't get an "after" shot of because I was too busy checking out Revlon’s new Root Erase product line and picking out one that matched my new red hair.

I bet you’re wishing school had been like this back when you were enrolled, and I couldn’t agree more.  But, you see, not every school is run by an amazing duo like Lands' End and Momtrends and not every school leaves you talking for weeks about how much fun you had.  I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised judging by how much fun I had partying with both brands at BlogHer last year, but this year really did blow me away with all the little details that made this a party to remember.

Leanne Signature 2I was invited to attend the Lands' End event while in NYC and received the above mentioned samples at the party.  As always, all opinions are 100% ours and no form of monetary compensation was received in exchange for this Rave Review.
