Safety Shield Mattress and Pillow Protectors {Review & Giveway}

Mattresses are a big investment, so it makes sense to spend a little money protecting them in order to extend their life.  If you know even a little bit about what your mattress goes through in its lifetime or how an unprotected mattress can harbor allergens, dust mites, and fluids, you will be racing to find a mattress protector that can ensure you get the maximum number of years out of your bed set.

Safety-shield-water Having a really nice mattress protector really does make a huge difference in the life of a mattress.  The humidity and dampness caused by perspiration breaks down the foam and components of a traditional mattress, which causes it to sag and become uncomfortable before it should.  These fluids may also cause stains that void your mattress warranty, or worse, provide a breeding ground for bacteria and allergens.  Since an unprotected mattress will hold literally billions of dead skin cells and allergens as well as the bacteria from all these fluids, you could potentially be sleeping in all sorts of filth that can cause skin problems and more.

LiveImage.ashx I recently was introduced to Safety Shield Mattress Protectors through Diamond Mattress, and really appreciated the quality of their protectors as well as the peace of mind that I have while using the Safety Shield brand.  Considering the cost of replacing your mattress more often than you need to, a Safety Shield Mattress Protector is really a wise investment.  Instead of replacing your mattress in order to ensure you are sleeping in a dry and allergy free-environment, you can simply toss your Safety Shield Mattress Protector into the washer and dryer with your sheets at each bed change!

Mattress Protectors from Safety Shield offer an almost imperceptible barrier over your mattress but still provide heavy duty protection against just about anything you can spill, sweat or stain.  Once covered in sheets, the protectors don’t affect the feel of your mattress and it’s easy to forget they are in place.  Since they are so hard to detect, it seems almost impossible that the Safety Shield protectors are waterproof and breathable, but amazingly they are.

Pillow Protector Being Zipped What most people don’t realize is that mattress protectors have come a long way since we were young and now they are able to offer total protection that doesn’t compromise a good night’s sleep.  Even with this high level of protection, these are not the old crinkly and crunchy mattress covers from our youth; these are the highest in quality bedding and are actually quite soft to the touch.  This makes it ideal for both the very young and the very old, as well as everyone in between that wants to prolong their mattress life.

Safety-shield-works What makes them really cool is the new SafetyShield™ Membrane that allows the waterproof and absorbent protector to be breathable and prevent allergens at the same time.  The company believes in their product so much that they even offer a 10 Year Warranty that is guaranteed to provide you with the best quality mattress protection available.

Total protection for your entire bed and a 10 year warranty to back it up is only part of why I love Diamond Mattress and their line of mattress protectors.  Find out more at http://www.diamondmattress.com/ or at http://www.safetyshieldmattressprotector.com/

  4. I learned that the average person sweats 1 pint a night (eww) and this sweat soaks into mattresses – a great reason to buy a safety shield organic mattress cover.

  5. I learned a lot and it makes me want a Safety Shield on all my beds like that my bed may be housing as many as 10 million dust mites. The dust mite favors a warm, almost moist surrounding, which is the condition of your mattress while you are sleeping on it without a mattress protector. Unless you had an allergic reaction caused by dust mite’s waste droppings, you’d probably never know they were there. However, exposure, especially as a young child, can cause complications including asthma, eczema, and hay fever that will last a lifetime.
    YIKES!

  6. I learned that your bed may be housing as many as 10 million dust mites. Dust mites survive well in mattresses, bedding, carpets, and furniture. Even in dry climates, house dust mites survive and reproduce easily in bedding (especially in pillows. Makes me really want one of these covers!

  7. I learned “do not dry clean your Safety Shield™ mattress protector. The Safety Shield Membrane will be destroyed by the chemicals used in dry cleaning.”

  8. I learned the the Diamond Mattresses never need to be turned because of their Superior Construction and High Quality components.

  9. I tweeted; however, I can’t get my comment to submit. I’m not sure why it won’t go through.

  10. I learned that the mattress covers are undetectable and silent. The feel of your mattress doesn’t change when using the covers. That’s great!

  11. I entered the Butterfly Orb giveaway and absolutely love those delicate works of art. They really make an interesting use of space. My husband even commented that he thought they were neat!

  12. I learned that the Safety Shield products are absorbent & waterproof and provide allergen & dust mite protection.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. I learned that Safety Shield Mattress Protectors are waterproof and breathable and prevent sweat, grime, allergens and dust mites from going through your sheets and entering your mattress where they cause your mattress to break down and harbor allergens that can cause chronic asthma, rhinitis, and other allergy related issues.

  25. I learned that I would love a Spinal Pedic Mattress with all it’s special layers it sounds like it would be like sleeping on a cloud. With my bad back I really need to be looking into a new mattress but since reading the website I think the box spring is important as well.

  27. I learned that dust mites can create the perfect storm of allergy triggers causing chronic health issues. Some main signs of house dust mite allergies are itchiness, sneezing, inflamed or infected eczema, watering/reddening eyes, runny nose and clogging in the lungs. mcgillrmcgill(at)charter(dot)net

  28. Ok, so I learned that mattress covers are undetectable and silent. The feel of your mattress doesn’t change when using the covers…that is GREAT news. I have NEVER owned a mattress cover and thats why my mattresses always get lint balls and junk on them. YUCK. Now we have a brand new baby girl who loves to snuggle up on our bed and at times leak through her little diaper 😉 We JUST got a new mattress this week and would LOVE to protect it from all sorts of yucky things. This would be such a blessing because it is honestly on my list of things to buy as soon as we have extra money…which basically means 10 years from now or so 😉
    Thanks so much!!!
