All Weather “B Blanket”

We love our WooBee!  As soon as the temperature outside dips below 65, we go straight for the WooBee Blanket for bundling our babe.  We love it so much that it has continent hopped with us twice in the past year, first to Spain and then to Morocco as well as covering quite a bit of the US as well.  It has become our go-to stroller blanket and babywearing coverall, as well as an awesome rain cover, wind blocker, play mat, changing pad, and even a nursing cover in the coldest temperatures.  So, when I heard that Rain or Shine Kids, the people that brought us the original WooBee, had created a lightweight and extremely affordable version of their classic, I was dying to get my hands on it.

New%20Sunburst%203x3 The 5-in-1 B Blanket is the newest release in the WooBee family of all-weather blankets, and one that absolutely lives up to the great WooBee name.  At 29” by 40”, the B Blanket is that perfect go-anywhere size while still offering enough coverage for just about any outdoor activity.  With a soft polar fleece lining and a water resistant rip stop nylon outer shell with contrast edging, this little B Blanket can handle even the wettest conditions while still remaining cozy and plush where it really matters.

In fact, the B Blanket is so water resistant that it passed the pooling water test with flying colors.  I did the typing while hubby did the dousing and the results were surprising to even a seasoned Rain or Shine Kids fan.  Not only did the B Blanket hold water long enough for hubby to walk it to the dining room and back, when he dumped the water back in the sink, the B Blanket had barely a trace of a water mark and no hint that any water penetrated through to the fleece side of the blanket.  As someone who wears rain boots far more often than I wear dress shoes, this little water test has absolutely elevated the B Blanket in terms of Seattle usefulness.  Not really a coincidence, considering Rain or Shine Kids is very much Seattle based and has specifically designed their products to withstand our damp and dreary winters.

XPICT2091 When you think water resistant and rip stop fabric, what comes to mind?  Yeah, me too, but the B Blanket feels absolutely nothing like that.  In my super scientific “touch tests” the nylon water resistant fabric almost has a silky quality to it, making both sides of the blanket feel plush and super snuggly.  Evidence: My daughter was absolutely devastated that the B Blanket couldn’t come to bed with her, and couldn’t understand how two otherwise loving parents would try and take away her new snuggle blanket.  Whether she was cuddled up reading her Corolle magazine or playing with her kitchen, the B Blanket was either on her or right beside her from the moment it came out of the package.

But, by far the best feature on the new B Blanket is the built in ties that are sewn into the nylon contrast edging roughly 1/3 of the way down the length of the blanket.  These little ties might not look like much, but the two sets of 12” nylon ribbon on either side are what make the B Blanket 5-in-1 as opposed to a single-purpose blanket.  These little ribbons allow you to tie the B Blanket to your child’s stroller, car seat, baby carrier and more while keeping the blanket from being kicked, tossed, or flung into whatever muck you’re walking through.

XPICT2088 I have said it once and I will say it again – tie everything down!  Why tempt fate with a wiggly toddler or sleeping baby when you can tie your blanket down and make sure it makes it home with you?  This is especially nice for biking, hiking, and active sports, as blankets have a tendency to get lost or mysteriously be misplaced when multiple gadgets and gear are being used.  However, if your little Houdini does manage to untie and unfurl, you will be happy to note that the B Blanket is 100% machine washable and dryable

As noted above, the Rain or Shine Kids line is absolutely perfect for travel since the 5-in-1 design covers just about all your blanket needs.  This allows you to pack less and pack lighter, making more room for fun stuff like souvenirs and memorabilia in your baggage.  Since their blankets can all be tied on you will never have to worry about losing the one blanket you packed, especially since it will most likely never see the inside of your suitcase(s).

Ur_turq%203x3 Comparing the original WooBee and the B Blanket side by side, it’s clear they have you covered no matter where you play.  With the original WooBee offering a thicker and more luxurious fleece and a heavier weather resistant outer shell, I would absolutely recommend paying the higher price if you are headed somewhere exceptionally windy or wet and when heat is one of the main concerns.  With its high quality triple stitch and its fashion ribbon, the original WooBee is as cute as it is functional.  The WooBee was absolutely priceless on our winter trip to Spain’s windy peninsula, both as a wind blocker and as a rain cover over the ERGO, and absolutely one of the best things we brought with us.  See image of a proud auntie babywearing and sporting the WooBoo in Toldeo, Spain on right.

XWoobee 2 The B Blanket offers similar protection in a lighter weight blanket as well as an adorable inside lining, making sure your child stays protected from the elements without overheating.  The B Blanket is great for use in warmer or more mild seasons, and I would even recommend it for use as sun protection for little ones if you’re headed somewhere sunny.  My daughter tends to be hot all the time, so the B Blanket would be absolutely perfect for us on most days, with the WooBee as back up in case an unexpected cold front comes in.

Most of all, I love that all Rain or Shine Kids blankets are as great for quiet indoor snuggles as they are for outdoor play.  No matter which Rain or Shine Kids design you choose, you can bet this little blanket will become a favorite of yours and your little ones with it’s soft luxurious fleece and the added bonus of protection from the elements.

A big thank you to Rain or Shine Kids for sending us one of our favorite must-have blankets to be reviewed and for offering a giveaway to our fabulous readers.  No type of monetary compensation was received for this Rave Review.  Please note that absolutely no one has endorsed wearing the WooBee or B Blanket as a cape (shown above on adorable baby girl) and that we were absolutely right beside her when this picture was taken.  If she insists on wearing it as a cape later, we will clamp it together with a very weak hair clip so that no harm would come to her if she were to trip or it were to get caught while she was walking/running.  Safety first, people.
